Management commitment and planning
The management of the company I require to derive objectives from being fulfilled by the staff and ensure that measures are taken to make the goals be achieved such as availing materials when needed to for performing of the assigned tasks by the relevant branches. The executive management is required to approve the purchase of materials such as fire extinguishing machines, safety boots, and clothing to ensure that the employees are well protected from any danger they might encounter at the workplace and in conformity with the guidelines provided for by the program. The meeting of both the staff and the administration is essential because it will ensure program administration, which is vital in its overall success. As of the head of the corporate safety, health, and environment, it is my mandate to make sure that the resolutions of the company on safety is adhered to throughout the organization through coordination of tasks and monitoring of performances by employees in the various departments.
Accountability
These are the documented procedures for holding management responsible for any damages as a result of not implementing the processes that have been recommended by the relevant teams that enforce the voluntary protection program. Accountability also applies to individual employees to follow the procedure to make sure that they are safe from harm. As the director of safety fairs, I must make sure that every department in the organization and every employee adheres to the rules that have put in place for their safety and to reduce the cost of compensation for the company.
Injury rates
In case of any injuries, the company has set up compensation for damage through rates that can compensate for injury on a three-year average price for both total and lost time/restricted cases. These will help the company to make sure that employees who are affected by work hazards in some way are compensated adequately for the injuries they incur while working.
Employee participation
It is also vital to deduce ways in which employees participate in the program, and this is through the proper following of the laid down rules and regulations for their good and that of the organization. As the coordinator, it is my mandate to come up with the best ways in which employees can participate in the program through encouraging [personal responsibility to mind the safety of others at the workplace.
Self-inspection
The company is also to ensure it has a system of self-inspection to ensure that it’s measures of safety are contributing towards the safety of employees, and working to the advantage of the company and also making sure it complies with the general rules and that they complement the program in providing a safe working environment for the employees.
Incident investigation
There should be written protocols and procedure to ensure the finding and correcting of accidents when they happen to ensure there is no recurrence. It is also crucial as the coordinator to anticipate the problem and follow the laid down channels be followed in mitigating the problem that has been experienced.
Safety and health training
There are several measures to ensure that employees follow the rules that have been put in place, such as training them on how to respond to the risks and accidents when they happen. It will make the employees, and the whole company prepares to handle the problems as they occur and reduce the extent of injury and damage at the workplace.
Emergency programs.
The company has to put up emergency programs in case an accident happens, and it should outline the correct procedure to be followed in case that occurs so that there can be a quick response to make sure the affected party is given immediate attention and the risk is taken care of immediately.
The occupational safety and health administration gave birth to the voluntary protection program, commonly referred to as the VPP star program. This program that has codes set up through federal regulations recognizes institutions that have demonstrated excellent health precautions. If the organization is approved for star status, it will receive a plague and a VPP flag, and for this, it will be upon the employees of the organization to exercise responsibility for their fellow employees while performing the duties assigned. Through participation and obtaining of the star status, employees will work more responsibly, improving quality delivery and increase in quality production. The rate at which workers are compensated will reduce because of the reduction in the number of accidents that happen at the workplace. The participation in the program will help the company to gain recognition in the community and industry in which it will be operating. Even though there are already laid down safety procedure by the company, the program will help to improve and complement the already laid down safety procedures by the company. It will also help the company to tailor the site-specific needs as it seeks to establish a new branch in the state of Florida in the United States. It will also continually help the company to minimize occupational hazards.
