Marijuana
Marijuana, also called Cannabis is a drug that has been used for recreational purposes by many people, but it also has medicinal value. Medical Marijuana refers to treating symptoms of illness and other conditions with the whole unprocessed marijuana plant, or its basic extracts. According to the National Institute of Health, Research has shown that people have used marijuana for medical purposes for over 3000 thousand years. Research has shown that Marijuana has medical benefits and it can be used in the treatment of some ailments.
According to a review from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine which assessed more than 10,000 scientific studies on the medical benefits and adverse effects of marijuana, it reported that marijuana can be used medically to treat chronic pains.
A review by Clinical Psychology Review shows that marijuana can be used medically in the treatment of Illnesses such as alcoholism and drug addiction, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety.
Marijuana has not been recognized or approved as a medicine. However, a scientific study of some of the chemicals in marijuana has led to some approved medications in pill form that are used to treat Nausea and boost appetite. They are dronabinol and nabilone. Research is yet to be conducted on large scale human objects, but scientists are conducting trials with marijuana and its extracts to treat symptoms and other conditions and determine the effects it has on human objects, thus the drug can be approved for medical use.
