McDonald’s SWOT analysis strengths and weaknesses
McDonald’s company is a well-known brand with high product knowledge, which is a major strength of the company (Samantha, 2016). The company has branches worldwide, which has improved its awareness among food companies in the world. For instance, the company distributed 40million masks in Canada, and the company has also participated in community activities in Switzerland, building a good reputation for its brand. The community support in Lebanon has also created a positive image of the company, enhancing brand awareness. The company has an aggressive marketing strategy that focuses on clients’ effective deliveries, cashless transactions, after-sale services, and customer reviews that facilitate its ability to capture many clients in their respective branches. The company also applies a high level of technology to prepare the spicy chicken nuggets and self-service kiosks. This has been facilitated by the 2007 Velocity growth plan that helped define the company’s direction. The company operates on a 24-hour basis, with flexible working hours, implying that this is a major strength in the company’s internal workforce. The company also has a stable market that is captured through the provision of spicy foods such as chicken nuggets sold at fair prices and this is a significant strength (Tiffany, 2012)
In contrast, the company has some weaknesses. The company faces challenges in venturing into new markets and acquiring prime locations to set up its branches. For instance, in France, the company had challenges establishing locations to set branches, affecting the growth rates. The company also faces internal competition and lack of proper collaboration since its vast branches worldwide act independently, with its management and employees. The company operates in a saturated market, especially in the USA, with many food companies such as KFC, PepsiCo, and Nestle (Lisa, 2017).
