The research question for the two studies is whether the medical administration of metformin more effective than dietary intervention in the control of type 2 diabetes and its development in pregnant women? The two studies note that gestation diabetes is a health problem and that it leads to other health complications. The PICOT question focuses to pregnant women, and while the two studies focus on finding out the answer to the research question, they will help the nurse to get an insight of how effective is the treatment of the diabetes conditions.
The two studies use quantitative analysis which helps the nurse to acquire adequate knowledge and significant understanding of how the different groups in the study reacted to the valuables carried out on them. The first study involved 206 pregnant women and had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. In contrast, the second study had 500 women. According to Ainuddin et al. (2015), metformin administration is an effective treatment of diabetes type 2. The comparison between the two interventions and groups shares the same response to the test carried out to them and therefore shared the same response to the PICOT question.
