Membrane And Mechanical Computer Keyboards
For computer users who spend a substantial amount of time working with computers, the choice of keyboard is very important for it affects some areas like typing speeds, hand placement while typing, and for gamers a keyboard that will give them the best performance. When it comes to casual computer users like those who just use it for a few emails, internet search, and chatting, the choice of the keyboard might not matter a lot to them.
There are two main types of keyboard namely:
Membrane Keyboard
It has a thin layer of membrane underneath the keyboard keys. When one presses a key, the thin membrane presses a circuit underneath it which registers what has been pressed. The major advantages of this type of keyboard are; readily available, low-priced, and less bulky enhancing portability. It’s downside is slow typing speeds because it can only register one keystroke at a moment and if one key is faulty one has to replace the whole keyboard.
Mechanical Keyboards
They feature spring-loaded-switches which register the key pressed with a notable click feedback sound. The major advantage of this type of keyboards are; replaceable keycaps one can customize the keycaps or change just the faulty keycap,
