After a brain injury there are high chances of having a short term memory loss. Typically Dan keeps forgetting the recent activities but can perfectly remember past activities because of the inability to grasp concepts at the occurrence of the injury. However past activities have been stored in the memory and have not been affected by the injury and therefore he can easily think them through. Traumatic Brain Injury damages parts of the brain that handle learning and remembering. It directlys affects the short term memory more than the long term memory. This injury directly affects the individual and he is unable to remember  the incidents around the injury.
