my passion for reading
I love playing with words that are like a puzzle I couldn’t quite solve. I have always been a fan of reading books and making meaning out of everything in writing. I always get fascinated by the idea of reading, which brings the picture to life. Ever since I discovered my passion for writing, it is like another world opened up for me. My passion for reading and writing has been powerful, fantastical but can sometimes be disastrous. Throughout my reading journey, I can say there is a power of words. I have always had a passion for recording my daily activities from happy moments to everything surrounding me. I found myself wanting to learn new words and develop a different vocabulary. The book that allowed me to push for my vast imagination and allowed me to soar was the children’s book harry porter. My eyes could not devour the silken pages fast enough.
After my passion for reading intensified, I decided to try my own hands to writing. The day I took a pen to write, words just started pouring out of me at a rate that I could not even control. I thought to myself, who knew this shy introvert person has so much to say?. I failed terribly at public speaking, even after reciting the presentation and carefully planning my words. The more I practiced, the more I made mediocre out of myself. However, the world needs to hear your words, even when the delivery is not perfect. I found console in writing, and through writing, I could express my views, ideas, and perceptions.
As a writer today, my works are filled with a passion for simplicity. I do not write for myself but my readers. I employ remarkable vocabulary, which is easy to understand and comprehend. I desire my readers to make meaning of my writing from the first reading without the help of a dictionary. I am aware of the advancement in technology; hence I write my work in short sentences that can be read on small screens. I desire to convey what is in my mind to the mind of the reader using the shortest path. As I write, my aim has never to impress another person with the extent of my knowledge or skill but to engage them in my ideas and thoughts. My goal as a writer is to become a good writer by writing my ideas in a way my readers understand and relate. I wish to write several books that can be read by different age groups from children to the old. My writing is meant to entertain children and empower older adults by talking about life and life lessons. My long term goal is to publish books, not only mine but other writers as well.
I seek to develop writing further in the future. This can be achieved by imitating the writers I admire like Joan Didion. Reading their works will give me an idea of how to construct my essay and make meaning from my worse. I need to find a patient and an excellent editor to assist me in improving my writing skills and correcting me where I might be going wrong. I need to take writing as my job and even enroll in workshops or late-night classes, and these engagements can help me boost my professional development as a writer. I need to work with outline s and eliminate unnecessary words. To develop, I need to conduct paper research to ensure I do not plagiarize someone’s work, as this will affect my credibility.
What distinguishes me from other students is my level of passion for writing. I started expressing myself through writing from an early stage; hence through the experience being able to make readers understand my point of view by the first reading of my works. I am good with words and vocabularies, and I can make stories relatable to people of all ages. However, as a beginner in writing, I have some weaknesses I need to address to become a better writer. I tend not to go straight to the point and beat around the bush. This causes needleless digression and exceeding more than word count. I suffer from a blind spot where I am unable to completely omit typo errors even after reading my word more than twice. I fail to notice the mistake, and immediately I see a mock comment, I hurry to correct and offer edit suggestions. However, I embrace any critic from my work, and this helps me become better at what I love.
I believe being a better writer means putting hard work in your writing and trying to improve each day. A writer must not think they are perfect but try to get better each day. My idea of a better writer is someone who pays attention to detail by observing and taking notes of subtle changes around them. The writer should be able to spot the smallest grammatical error and read through the work to ensure no descriptive detail is left behind. The writer must be disciplined and continuously re-evaluate their works to ensure there is no plagiarism or grammatical mistakes. The writer needs to pose clarity in their work by distilling complex ideas into an understandable context. The writer should be open to changes and critic to improve their writing and weak points. A good writer should always strive for quality in their work.
