My Philosophy of Healthcare
Working in the health care professional has made me realize the fickleness of life. Through my interactions with patients, I have had a profound understanding of the pain they process and go through daily. Thus, I have had a constant desire to lessen the pain and suffering of patients by offering undivided attention and care to each patient under my watch. My underlying healthcare philosophy is to make the best choices for my patients and not allow bad thoughts or personal issues to interfere with my daily practices as a healthcare provider. I strive to provide nonjudgmental care to everyone regardless of their background, race, spiritual beliefs, and lifestyle choices. Showing compassion, understanding, and treating every human being as a unique God’s gift has given me the strength to become part of a team of professionals that save lives and give hope to those facing difficult times.
Since I was a little kid, I have always dreamed of joining a medical-related field of study. This aspiration is more than a dream, but a call from God that I need to follow and actualize in order to achieve my purpose in life. I believe that working in the healthcare environment is a role that I need to assume with discipline and responsibility. Knowing that God chose me to help people in need is a blessing that not everybody is ready to assume. I have an obligation to the public to provide safe, holistic, and patient-centered care that ensures patient’s outcomes are positive and promising in the long run.
As a health care professional, I have realized and learned that patients are individuals with different needs and approaches to life; for this reason, I believe addressing patients with love, care, and vibrance can significantly improve how they feel about themselves. Patients are humans with emotions and insecurities as the rest of us; therefore, being always positive and creating a friendly environment for each patient is a crucial start of the healing process. Working as a healthcare professional will allow me to extend the healing ministry of God. Moreover, interacting with patients will have a significant impact on my life, especially since seeing life through others’ perspectives and experiences shape the kind of person we become. Health care is a basic need that everyone needs and deserves regardless of their financial positions; therefore, I believe that as a health care professional, I will be able to come up with strategies and procedures that eventually reduce the cost of health care.
One theme that resonates with my philosophy of health care is brokenness. Most patients battle with feelings of emptiness inside, especially those fighting chronic illnesses that drain them off physically, emotionally, and financially. As a healthcare professional and an individual, I am aware of what it is to suffer, struggle, and feel wounded or weak. Therefore, I will strive to embrace my brokenness so as to be able to care for others undergoing the same feeling.
I believe each patient should receive quality and holistic care, and this can only be achieved by ensuring we treat patients as individuals with unique stories to tell and conquer. Healthcare is a noble and honorable profession that should be valued and embraced with respect. Through my position in this field, I hope and believe that I’ll be able to offer hope to patients and families and hopefully become a leader and an inspiration to others aspiring to pursue this profession.
