Currently, the business is selling its products through several small supermarkets and health stores throughout Australia. The project on hand includes designing a new website classified as a Medium Project. The new website is a critical part of the company’s expansion strategy. The new website aims to include a shopping cart, so customers can order products directly through the site and also customers be able to access recipes and general information about the health benefits of bush spices. The team assigned the role of developing the website will all develop a company’s logo for commissioning. The new website will help in the increase of sales, and create brand awareness, develop a broader product range, as well as expand into overseas markets, most likely Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
Scope
Project scope is the work to be done during the process of project implementation. Work to be done in a project must be identified and planned. The project team makes sure that the project scope is well defined and activities scheduled well and assigned to the relevant individuals.
In the case study, the scope includes: To design a new website classified as a Medium Project. The new website is a critical part of the company’s expansion strategy. Internal stakeholders include; CEO, Operations Manager, Marketing Coordinator, Customer Service Officer, and two administration staff. Ten staff are employed in the factory, making and distributing the products. External stakeholders include; The Company’s target customers those that enjoy gourmet foods. ( Glassée, E. 2000) The age range of consumers buying products is between 35 and 65. Most consumers are health conscious, care about protecting the environment, and have an average annual income of $80,000.
Resources
The primary resources include; development of content, new logo to suit web site design, web site development, including the inclusion of shopping cart and professional photographs of staff and premises, as well as newsletters to be included on web site. Moreover, the management team for the website is also a resource that should also be added to ensure that it does not cease operating after its development.
Relationship to other projects
The marketing department will use the new logo from the website development to brand all other company documents and communication. Some new products are currently being developed. The website will be involved in its launch. The company has long wanted to commission a new logo, and it has been decided to do this now, in conjunction with the new website. The Native Bush Spices marketing team will then use the logo across all of the company’s communication. ( Ward, S. (2006
Reporting
A Project Management Plan will be developed following the first Project Team meeting. It will require approval by the Operations Manager, and it should then be submitted to the project team. A Status Report will be written by the Project Manager every four weeks. (Fish, J. R. (1997). This will be submitted to the Operations Manager for approval. A Project Evaluation Report will be written by the Project Manager four months after project completion. This will be forwarded to the Operations Manager for approval.
Conclusion
The above project results to two products for the Native Bush Spices Australia Company that is the website and the company’s logo. This two projects will help the company to achieve its objectives. (Khan, A. (2006). Well planned and well-managed scope will lead to reduced costs and efficiency. Scope planning when well-done will guarantee project success. In project scope planning, resources such as time, money, and human resources are well managed to avoid wastages hence increasing efficiency and reducing the project’s costs.
