NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN THE USA

  1. INTRODUCTION

In recent years, there has been a growing global narrative on the importance of Natural Resource Management. Natural Resource Management, NRM, is defined as the protection of the safety of natural resources such as land, water, and soil, to ensure their productivity is maintained. Natural Resource Management provides the safety of these natural resources with a particular concentration on how management affects the quality of life for both present and future generations. Therefore the involvement of stakeholders and all the relevant bodies are crucial for the protection of natural resources. Most governmental agencies and departments have come out solely to dedicate significant human resources and capital to their public relations programs, which often blend marketing, communication, and outreach activities. One of the NGO’s that have dedicated their significant capital and human resources in protecting nature is the National Wildlife Federation. The following essay will do further analysis of this organization.

  1. BODY

The National Wildlife Federation was created in the year 1936, at times when J.N. Ding Darling, Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist, came up with the idea of reinstating depleted populations of ducks and other animals (Roosevelt, T., & TULE, E., 2015, 77). Mr. Darling discussed in the meeting about the predicament of the nation’s wildlife. In this meeting, a new organization, the National Wildlife Federation, was developed as a voice that will protect the county’s wild heritage.

The strategic mission statement of the organization is to unite all Americans to ensure wildlife thrive in a rapidly changing world. Their sacred duty responsibility is to safeguard and build upon their protection and conservation tradition for the sake of wildlife, people, and future generations.

The National Wildlife Federation works with several stakeholders, such as Zero Waste, Environmental Education, and Habitat Preservation. Their purpose is to engage millions through their education, consumer marketing, community outreach, and advocacy campaigns.

One of the National Wildlife Federation’s main agenda or program that interest me is the Educational Programs. The educational program is strategized by the organization to succeed as future stewards universal citizens of the planet. Focus is placed on the children and the teenagers as they are expected to understand and comprehend the fundamental norms and values of nature and wildlife (NatureIsSpeaking). Through this project, which is concentrated on conservation and environmental knowledge, the National Wildlife Federation organization offers various methods or techniques of forming a long-term base of environmental literacy, problem-solving skills, and stewardship for today’s young generation. The National Wildlife Federation organization mobilizes this program through helping all societies worldwide to create their own important by attractive wildlife home where they will live peacefully, worship, learn and work (Thompson, 2012). Through their Community Habitats and Garden for Wildlife program, the Educational Program has managed to reach nearly 12 million individuals from over 235,000 locations and also involved 170,000 educators in 2019. To increase public involvement worldwide, the organization is advised to engage the leadership of as many cities, counties, and towns as possible in habitat creation.

The mission of the National Wildlife Federation is to unite all Americans to ensure that wildlife prospers or succeeds in a speedily changing world. Therefore, the organization communicates its mission, work, and achievements through restoring, protecting, and connecting wildlife habitats. Active reconnection and restoration of degraded and fragmented habitat across working lands, protected lands, communities, coasts, and waterways. The organization also tries to connect Americans with wildlife. This will motivate the next generation of conservationists to widen the conservation action, stewardship ethic, and backing for policy modifications, which will be essential to save thousands of species which are at risk (Reed et al., 2009, 1941). To increase their outcome, the organization will make sure that many American citizens and representatives are fully aware of the nation’s wildlife calamity. The National Wildlife Federation will activate 11 million individuals and also work in hand with over 2,500 partner organizations as part of America’s conservation army (Seitel, 2007).

  • CONCLUSION

Natural resources are so precious that they can provide resources such as ecosystem services that offer better sound quality of human life. The natural resources are fundamental since they provide life support to human beings, in the form of wasteful and public services. But this cannot be achieved if the natural resources are not protected. And this is where the collaborative efforts between the stakeholders and the National Wildlife Federation organizations come in. The essay has discussed the history, mission, and vision statement reviewed the organization’s program that interests me and examines how the organization communicates its achievements, work, and mission.
