The beauty of the environment exists in its nature to delight individuals under different circumstances.  Moreover, environmental makeup and fashions that make people satisfied occur as subjects to change. Various scholars argue that beauty never exists as mere tastes and instrumental value, but in its appreciation, it persists as worth keeping. Furthermore, beauty found in art and nature occurs as an intrinsic good hence deserving that respect as well as ethics responsibilities for its promotion by individuals. Equally, objectivity should exist as a priority doctrine in appreciating the aesthetic of nature as well as art. Moreover, factors such as object orientation play a significant role in the beauty of nature-based on factors such as in-depth personal comprehension of the properties that make up nature and art. On the same note, the doctrine of objectivity in valuing the beauty of nature occurs in two cases. Firstly, individuals should seek knowledge from other fields, such as biology, ecology, and geology. Secondly, people should categorize what to appreciate in art or nature with careful guidance on the categories. Notably, the aesthetic value in art occurs as an objective based on the experiences of the work by an individual. The art properties make the work aesthetically valuable hence objective since character and existence occur independently when individuals respond or detect them. Therefore, in what follows, the paper will argue that nature exists as objectively aesthetically valuable but for a reason other than those that make objectively valuable work of art objectively aesthetically useful.

Analysis of Thompson View

Based on Thompson’s view, nature occurs as beautiful, and few individuals would differ on this claim. He asserts that aspects of beauty possess different values based on specific rights; hence they can never reduce to the capacity of providing people with satisfaction or happiness. Equally, Thomson argues that worthiness of nature aesthetic originates from people’s identification as well as appreciation (Thompson, 1995). On the same note, art never happens as merely instrumental, but great job carried out in art deserves respect; hence individuals who intend to destroy them should get prevented through condemnation. Referring to the above point by Thompson, since nature also possesses that beauty, the same attitudes and responsibilities should get extended to the objects found in nature (Thompson, 1995). For the people who argue based on the moral standards related to nature, the aesthetic value should assume that the aesthetic values of the environment occur as intrinsic. He further explains that personal and objective judgment about the value of nature or art should not offer the way of asserting that every individual should views and perceive it as the appeal of respect and preservation (Thompson, 1995). Moreover, the basis of respecting and protecting things of beauty originates from the abilities of individuals to make objective judgments concerning the objects of beauty.

Thompson posits that some of the artworks persist as objectively aesthetically valuable, and people possess responsibilities to preserve and offer protection based on their worthiness. On the same note, he argues that some objects of nature share similar properties with those of significant jobs of art in which they exist as objectively aesthetically valuable. Thompson explains that not all substantial works of art persist as impressive, or they occur as attractive naturally or with immediate effect. Moreover, he points out that particular arts get valued based on the fact that they challenge the previous ones due to their characters of imaginations and insight (Thompson, 1995). However, the value of nature and art shares various aspects, which makes them objectively, aesthetically valuable. For instance, both art and nature offer people with a connection with past events or life. As per Thompson (1995), works of art provide a glimpse of people pas culture hence defining the identity of individuals in that context as well as their association with past. Notably, when individuals comprehend on how to respect and appreciate nature, it offers a significant connection to the histories more so place they live considering factors such as its unique attractions and peculiarities (Thompson, 1995). Thompson posits that individuals should preserve nature to realize their aesthetic value. Nature exists as objectively aesthetically valuable but for a reason other than those that make objectively valuable work of art objectively aesthetically worthwhile. Based on the above statement, appreciation of nature’s objective can get justified based on conceptualization and description by different branches of science such as ecology, biology, and geology (Xue, 2018). Arguing on this fact, the aesthetic value of nature exists in the science cognitivism in which it could face some challenges when applied in the works of art. According to Xue (2018), the primary idea of this system concentrates on the “radical rule of science in the aesthetic appreciation of nature.”  Notably, the analogy of virtue contemplates nature in the perspective of observation of an individual’s morality, which holds commonness in the preference of aesthetic appreciation of objects found in nature (Xue, 2018). On the same note, people use the environment as self-expression tools hence individuals expressing themselves in terms of aesthetic gratitude of nature and its objects. Such activities result in the transformation of the aesthetic appreciation of nature into personal moral affairs and emotions (Xue, 2018). Nevertheless, wild nature places every aspect of life from a specific perspective hence occurring in contrast to the interests of people. Still, individuals have to incorporate nature in the life system.

Based on the thesis statement, art, as many scholars posit, originates from imitation and admiration of the beauty possessed by nature. Tsekos and Petsiou (2018) assert that artist incorporates the ideas of the natures into their thinking hence coming up with their works on various aspects of life. In most cases involving multiple philosophers, not only art and nature share significant similarities but also possess some differences that provide the specific meaning aesthetic evaluation of the two aspects (Tsekos & Petsiou, 2018). For example, nature occurs in randomness, and no one possesses control over it as opposed to the work of art in which art creators own significant in its creation and occurrence (Xue, 2018). As a result, the beauty in nature persists as unconscious occurrence a while that on in art exit as conscious event based on the personal work.

The beauty of nature changes in different conditions as compared to the work of art. For instance, factor such as natural calamities can change the beauty of the attractive landscape or change in term can alter the attractiveness of nature. On the same note, a “dead” relationship occurs between an individual and art as opposed in the case of valuing nature in which people possess a direct and live link with objects of beauty in nature.

Criticism

The critiques indicate that nature cannot provide some of the beautiful sounds created by human beings through poetry and music. Yes, the environment lacks various human-created sounds like music; hence in that perspective, art could occur as more valuable than nature. Individuals argue that nature would offer substantial values when incorporated with various artworks like music, which makes the environment more appealing.

Response to the Criticism

Human beings have created various things in nature that offers beauty, such as buildings and other structures. However, nature acts as the critical part that enables the artists to come up with such artworks. Furthermore, if nature exists as beautiful, its natures require some of the additional human-made structures and sounds. Equally, human beings survive in various environments, appreciating their beauty without human influences such as sounds and constructed structures. For instance, a walk into the beautiful forest and landscapes with a variety of flowers giving different scents offers beauty and satisfaction to varying individuals without impacts of human or art actions. Notably, people climb on top of the maintains and experience the beauty of its snow in which human influences get limited. However, such nature still offers great attraction based on its value.
