WEEK 7 DISCUSSIONS
1ST RESPONSE
Hello Mah Awoh.Thank you for the informative post. According to Clark, 2020, a healthy working environment is a safe satisfying, and empowering environment that fosters a sense of accountability, transparency, effectiveness, professionalism, and efficiency. It is achieved through true collaboration, authentic leadership, effective communication, and decision-making, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and meaningful recognition of the team members.
Effective communication is arguably one of the central pillars of an organization’s success. It builds strong relationships, trust, innovation, and teamwork. Nurse leaders can enhance their communication by seeking honest feedback, understanding their subordinates, having sincerity in their communication, and working on their listening skills. Transparency in organizations fosters a culture of trust between the employees and the leaders. It can be achieved by creating a no-blame culture whereby leaders develop balanced accountability and improvement in everyone’s shared duty (Levay, 2016). Sharing information openly in employee forums, and during one on one conversation can break the barriers to internal transparency. There are leadership practices that influence employee satisfaction. They include maintaining optimum staffing levels to avoid burn out, maintaining strong interpersonal relationships, motivating nurses with incentives, and inspiring the staff among other practices (Moneke & Umeh, 2014).
