Obesity, Home and the Effect of Clothes
East or West, Home Is the Best
A lot of times, people leave their homes to find comfort in other places. Besides, some visit recreational places while others go overseas to seek greener pastures and better lives, which they cannot get from their home. Nevertheless, even when they accomplish their goals, they always feel like something is missing in their lives. In the end, no matter where they may go, they eventually realize that they lack the sense of belonging, a feeling they can only get at home.
Home! A place like no other; it does not matter whether one comes from a poor or wealthy background. Many people leave their homes, work hard, and become extremely successful in life. They can buy anything they desire at any time, such as fancy cars, airplanes, five-star hotels, expensive condos, and houses, but there is one thing they cannot buy, home! A home is more than just a house. It is made up of the family, relatives, genuine friends, and other people in the society. Successful individuals, such as musicians, actors, politicians, and other social personalities, often get a lot of hype and love from their fans and supporters.
However, all this is conditional since when things do not go as expected, and these popular individuals do something to annoy the fans, they immediately desert them. That is not what true love is all about. The love and affection one gets from home are unconditional. Family back at home loved you before you were famous and successful, loved you when you became famous, and even when you fall, they will still love you. In other words, home is the ultimate safe haven for anyone as people are always accepted for what they are and treated with respect regardless of their flaws and imperfections. All these facts validate the fact that east or west, home is the best.
Obesity: A Burning Issue of Modern Society
The number of people affected by obesity or excessive weight has grown exponentially across the globe over the past couple of decades. Perhaps, this can be attributed to the global modernity and economic growth that has altered people’s ways of living and feeding. Besides, rapid technological advancements have hindered regular physical exercises in one way or another. At the same time, the contemporary world is characterized by food security, where people can access food at any time.
The prevalence of obesity in the developed world is quite astounding. Evidently, this is due to the extensive use of advanced technological equipment in daily life. For instance, many children spend several hours every day sitting in front of the screen, either watching TV or playing video games. Additionally, an increasing number of people in the contemporary world now have smartphones and can access the internet from wherever they may be. Subsequently, this has prevented them from participating in physical exercises, which reduces their rate of metabolism. Besides, the body would most likely fail to burn all the excess calories, leading to increased body fat. Most people in developed countries can afford transportation means such as cars, motorcycles, or paying for public transport. In turn, this has denied then a chance to walk and exercise their bodies.
Furthermore, there is a lot of food in the modern world. People tend to eat anything they desire, regardless of the nutrient value. For this reason, many have adopted unhealthy diets, where they consume a lot of food that their body could not metabolize. Ultimately, a combination of unhealthy diets and lack of physical exercise is a recipe for obesity. Indeed, this justifies that technological advancements and food security are the primary attributes of obesity in the modern world.
Do Clothes Make a Man?
People often tend to judge others based on their general appearance, how they talk, walk, eat, behave, or, most importantly, the way they dress. When one dresses up nicely, people often perceive him or her as intelligent and legitimate. On the other hand, when a person puts on ragged and worn-out clothes, the chances are high that they will look at him as a confused or even poor individual even before learning more about the person. However, I believe it is not reasonable to judge people based on their clothes; instead, people should focus more on the inner attributes of an individual.
Judging the book by its cover has often led to misconceptions in one way or another. Moreover, these days many criminals and people who engage in immoral activities prefer dressing up decently to throw off any suspicions about their deeds. In this context, people in the society might even put their trust in such people to lead them, only to discover later that the person is a criminal. One can dress up like a police officer or a physician whose role is to save people’s lives, yet he or she is a murderer in a real sense.
Similarly, people nowadays see a girl wearing skimpy, tight, and short dresses; they immediately conclude that she is promiscuous or, even worse, a prostitute, yet it is often not the case. In fact, people who are actually promiscuous dress decently to hide their actions. The bottom line is that just because someone is dressed in a certain way, it does not mean that it represents what they are. In other words, clothes do not represent the actual attributes and actions of an individual. Therefore, it is high time people started judging people for who they actually are, and not what they appear to be because; clothes do not make a man.
