Observing People in a Natural Environment
Natural environment involves the living and the non-living things that occur naturally. They are all the things which are not made by a man, also known as artificial. Natural observation is a method used in assessment and research, which is just like direct observation. In this observational technique, information about a person or persons is gathered immediately concerning the behavior of individuals as it occurs naturally in their day to day natural environment. However, natural observation should not involve any kind of clinical or laboratory setting. Naturalistic observation is, therefore, research involving the specific subject of interest upon its natural environment as it occurs in daily life activities. This paper will focus upon the natural observation of people by watching their reactions as they are exposed to the different natural environment in their habitats.
Naturally, human beings are considered being very restless and impatient because they don’t like waiting. However, through a Naturalistic observation, women are impatient while compared with men. On the other hand, men are seen tending to wait quietly. Despite men remaining quiet, their faces outlook normally gives away their observable impatient and restlessness, (McBurney & White 2010). In spite of this, men level of patience is higher than that of women. This natural observation, however, does not concur with most of the legend that women are more patient than men.
Through naturalistic observation young girls are seen being attention seekers because they always try their best to attract the attention of others towards themselves using gestures, walking styles as well as their mode of speaking to their peers. For example, they can use a unique way of greeting instead of shaking hands as usual. Use of funny body movements by boys and girls of different generations is a way of showing that is the most popular and “cool” among their friends, (McBurney & White 2010). For example, such behavior may involve reactions and behaviors like bouncing and shaking bodies while walking.
Through natural observation, it has also been noted that individuals of the same age groups behave the same in many cases. This is because if their views and opinions are converged together, they normally behave similarly. They had the same thinking patterns and ways of interpreting the situation. This means that, while stimulated such human beings react to a given situation in similar ways also. In this perspective, there is a huge strength connecting natural observation of people and psychology.
In a summative report, it is not arguable that a diversified category of people reacts physically in different ways while exposed to various natural environments. Therefore, while observing a person’s behavior, you can learn about their personality and true aspects. Possibly, this makes people who they are. Characterizing their movements and behaviors depicts their true nature in a given natural environment depending on the existing scenario. Therefore, behaviors sometimes should be naturally observed as they happen. By observing how people react to given stimuli and situations in a natural environment, psychologists can obtain varieties of ideas regarding why and how people react. This is because in many cases, people might not behave the same manner in a lab or clinic arrangement that they may in a natural environment.
