Online and offline Dating
Offline dating, on the other hand, has more responsibilities and obligations. Partners must arrange physical meeting places, engage in deep conversation, and takes time before individuals can trust each other. Personally, both online and offline dating has its benefits and downsides. The goodness or badness of each depends on an individual’s experience. As for Kira, who has been through both, people should use online dating safely, including not providing too many life details before knowing someone better. The same is true for offline dating because most of what people say to strangers can be the beginning of their suffering.
Sexuality in Online Dating
In response to this question, Kira allowed me to go through his online profile. I went through her postings, chats, and photos. She explained that online dating is a challenge because it demands more than just meeting and talking. For months, her boyfriend has been persuading her for sexual favors, but she argues that she can only have sex after marriage. Kira is an absolutist Christian who believes that sex is only preserved for married couples, only meant for procreation. In her opinion, baseless sexual acts are immoral and regarded as seen against self, community, and God. Her family and cultural background justify Kira’s stance regarding sex. According to Knox, Schacht, & Chang (2020), absolutists have a higher level of sexual guilt and lower level of sexual satisfaction. This class of individuals desists from having sexual intercourse until marriage, whether in an online or offline relationship. Unlike the Zionist society, absolutists adhere to sexual values and live by the restrictive religious guidelines of sexual life. For Kira, she believes that true love waits and commits herself to protect her virginity until she is lawfully wedded to James, her online met boyfriend. Arguably, sex in relationships depends on individual choices. There should be no moral guidelines for sexual life, but rather, people should make choices based on their values, beliefs, and traditions.
