ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR ISSUES
Organizational behavior issues are certain practices within an organization that prevent attainment of efficiency in the organization’s day to day activities. Such methods are dangerous and threaten the goals of any organization that fail to address such issues.
A good example of organizational behavior issues is a lack of motivation. In an organization, it is paramount that all employees are motivated and rewarded for achieving the goals set for them by their superiors. Lack of motivation makes employees less invested in the work done, resulting in half measure output by the employees. By motivating employees through a reward and recognition system, they will become more invested in the organization’s goals and put in more effort to achieve them in the best way possible.
The organizational behavior issues experienced today are not someone’s that experienced a decade or two in the past. With innovation in technology and refinement in the sector, we find that the dynamics in organizations have changed with more technology involved in the organization’s day-to-day proceedings. Due to globalization, organizations have to accommodate employees of different nationalities, something previously but not as progressively as in today’s time. Such realities have forced organizations to restructure themselves in their internal structures and incorporate technology to increase efficiency (Demir, 2019).
Organizational behavior is critical in modern times to increase the output of employees and maintain efficiency. It helps the employer understand how employees behave and perform, therefore allowing him/her to know how to get the best performance out of them. Be it through motivation or providing a friendly workspace for employees, organizational behavior plays a significant role in helping employees become their best selves.
Various sciences contribute to organizational behavior, namely Psychology, Sociology, Social psychology, Anthropology, and Political science. Psychology is the study that seeks to alter the behavior of animals and humans alike as well as to measure and explain behavior. Sociology is the study of people’s relations with each other. Social psychology looks at the influence individuals have on each other. Anthropology focuses on understanding humans as well as their activities. Political science focuses on people’s behaviors within their political affiliations. All these disciplines work in harmony to understand what influences people to behave the way they do but, most importantly, how-to guide them towards a common goal despite their vast diversities.
