War can be defined as a fight carried out by the use of arms between parties and nations. World war can also be defined as the warfare carried out in the whole world by nations as by sea, land, or air. Second World War was the war that occurred after the First World War. Many causes could have led to the causes of the Second World War. Historians would like to know what could its causes. They have found to be a challenging task since the events are multifaceted and enormous. Historians have the objective of the studies of the Second World War. It is to assist them to analyze the impact of those various inputs. Historians classify these inputs as events that cause the war into various categories.
A proximate cause is a circumstance that appeared to activate an event directly, for example, Abraham Lincoln’s election in November 1860 and Fort Sumter’s selling is the direct events that cause the civil war. Historians always want to explore deeply the effects and the causes of the war. Historians are pointing out the conditions, which could have triggered the outbreak of the Second World War (Ferris & Mawdsley2017).
In 1939, Europe was dragged back into war by Hitler. He was a German leader who was a dictator. The war would have not been there without him. There are five major causes of the Second World War in some of the continents in the world.
Firstly, the German desired revenge and the Versailles treaty. There was the betrayal that had been felt by the German combatants by the signing of an armistice on 11th November 1918 at Compiegne. This signing happened in amidst of domestic political unrest. It was triggered by the civilian context of Hunger and war fatigue. There were some of the agitators who were high-profiled called the left-wing Jews. These Agitators fuelled the theory of conspiracy of the disloyalty of Jewish Bolshevik. This theory later laid the psychological groundwork of Hitler to prepare the German for the upcoming war. The First World War brought the devastating experience. This experience left the winning nations and their citizens desperate to avoid another war. The German felt victimized by the Versailles Treaty and French insistence caused them to cause another war. This war was caused by German nationals to give them a chance of rectifying a treaty of Versailles (Fuller,2018).
Secondly, the economic downturn is another factor that causes the outbreak of the Second World War. The conditions that create political, international, and civil unrest were relied always by the economic downturn. From 1923 to 1924, Germany was hit by hyperinflation and permitted the timely development of Hitler’s occupation. Although there was experienced recovery, the global crash exposed the Weimar Republic fragility that hit in the 1920s. Great Depression created conditions such as unemployment, which caused the National Socialist Party’s lethal to fame.
Thirdly, lebensraum, and Nazi ideology are other factors that caused the Second World War. The Versailles treaty was exploited by Hitler. This exploitation brought pride to nationals of German that they will defeat the war. It influenced German nationals that they were supreme than other nations. In the early 1920s, there was a publication where Hitler hinted to have any intension of uniting German. This unity could ensure that there is self-sufficiency through reconstituted territory such as Austria. The oncoming war was referred explicitly by Hitler in May 1939. This war was bounded up with lebensraum pursuit to the east (Ferris & Mawdsley2017).
Fourthly, the forging of alliances and the rise of extremism are other factors that caused the Second World War. Europe emerged being a place where changes were experienced after the First World War. Also, the Paths of political ground were booked up by performers on the extreme left and right. Hitler identified Stalin as the main future opponent and he was suspicious of Germany being held territorially amongst the Soviet Union in the west, east, and Bolshevik Spain together with the leftist French Authority. He also decided to intervene in the Spanish Civil war to reinforce Europe’s right-wing. The friendship between fascist Italy and Nazi German was strengthened during that time. Also, Mussolini focused much to protect the European to benefit the expansionism of Germans. In November 1936, the Anti-Comintern pact was signed by Japan and German. The west was increasingly distrusted by Japanese following held plans on conquering Manchuria and China in a style that echoed Nazi grievances in the European East. In August 1939, there was an establishment of the most unlikely diplomatic agreement. It led to the signing of the non-aggression of the Nazi-Soviet. This act causes two powers to be carved up effectively to perceive a buffer zone that has been there between Eastern European. It could pave way for invasion of Poland by German ( Sunahara, 2020).
Fifthly, the failure of appeasement is another factor that caused the Second World War. The isolationism of American was a conventional response to the events of Europeans between 1914 and 1918 had eventually become involved in. France and Britain were left already terrified by the view of the second war since they did not have an ally during the interwar era. They were seen as the toothless league of Nation since they were seen as another Versailles product. They fail to prevent the Second World War. In the mid of 1930s, the German was re-armed by the Nazis despite the Versailles treaty and protest from France or Britain or without sanction. They founded Luftwaffe which expanded naval forces and the introduction of conscription.
The Versailles treaty was disregarded which caused the troops from German to reoccupy the Rhineland in 1936. Such progress made Hitler be a legend within Germany and provided employments. This act encouraged Fuhrer to push for foreign appeasement that could reach the limit. The appeasement of Nazi Germany was closed associated with Neville Chamberlain who was the British prime minister from 1937-1940. The signing of the Munich Agreement was done without Hitler’s question demands. This signing caused much surprise which chamberlain disgracefully celebrated during his return to Britain. British and French continued to be overwhelmed with Hitler’s threats to war. In March 1939, Czechoslovakia’s reminder was as the result of sea-change in public opinion by the appropriation of Hitler. This opinion sneeringly disregard the treaty of Munich (Phillips, 2019)
