Pandora Exploration
There are several genres and types of music all over the globe. Listening to music is not only a cool thing, but scientists have also gone ahead to prove that it has a healing effect. Several individuals who have lost their loved ones or have parted ways with their love partners have reported feeling relieved from the pain by listening to music. In essence, according to Li et al., (2017) the Oxford dictionary defines music as “the art of combining vocal or instrumental sounds or both to come up with a beauty of form, harmony, and an expression of emotion.”
After listening to the five songs that were provided, I resolved to come up with a Pandora station on George Benson and particularly on his song entitled “clockwise.” It is important to note that due to Pandora’s licensing agreements, it is impossible to choose precise songs in the creation of a playlist. More so, the system does not allow you to skip several songs under an hour unless you opt to buy a Pandora one subscription that costs $36 annually (Upitis, 2019).
Nevertheless, in the creation of a Pandora station with the artist name of George Benson and precisely on the song “clockwise,” the system will as well identify the DNA of the song. Pandora’s DNA ability that reveals a song’s rhythm, vocals and other factors of identification classified “clockwise” song as jazz classical music genre.
Moreover, in the creation of a George Benson Pandora station, the Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down was very fundamental. In essence, these are the critical tools that helped me to mark the music I liked and that which I disliked. I used the Thumbs Down to navigate to the song “clockwise” since I felt that the first four songs did not fit in my George Benson Pandora station. However, it is pivotal to note that using Thumbs Down did not necessarily imply that I have a dislike for the first four songs. I never wanted the song to be played in my George Benson Pandora station.
Nonetheless, the first four songs were primarily composed by George Benson. The selection by the system was chiefly based on the songs’ stylistic similarity to the “clockwise” song. The four first songs that I listened to were “Supership,” “Lady Loves Me,” “Don’t Let Me Lose This Dream,” and “I Just Wanna Hang Around You.” Essentially, the Thumbs Down narrowed its DNA station creation to these four songs due to their more musical quality resemblance(Lott, 2017).
