Paul’s Influence on Christianity
The person who had the most significant impact on Christianity was Christ, who was the Messiah. Most people have an opinion that it was Paul who had the most considerable influence on the direction of Christianity religion through his letters in the New Testament. However, the Holy Spirit of God was in control of Paul’s writings so that the Gospel of Jesus could be spread across the nations even after Jesus had ascended to heaven (Longenecker, 2015). Therefore, the significant influence that Paul had over Christianity was primarily impacted by God’s power on him. Furthermore, God uses ordinary people with flaws, strengths, and real personalities to accomplish His mission. Therefore, the zeal, strength, and character of Paul helped to influence Christianity and the future direction of the Christian faith.
Paul was so influential since he did the work of spreading the gospel of Jesus with all his strength and vigor. The scriptures say that Paul had a great zeal for spreading Christianity. It can be seen from the great work he did in traveling many miles across the Mediterranean region to spread the gospel of Christ. Paul also brought the doctrine which transformed a small group of Judaism to Christian faith, which spread all over the world (Wright, 2014). Also, Paul’s influence over Christianity can be attributed to the many Christian documents that he wrote. He authored 13 out of a total of 27 books in the New Testament.
Paul helped to shape the modern views of Jesus through his letters. He helped in spreading the gospel to the Gentiles, Jews Greeks, and the Hebrews. Paul’s doctrines were to take the gospel to the non-Jews, and that is how he influenced Christianity to spread to all the other nations (Wright, 2014). Through his missions, Paul facilitated the spread and growth of Christianity and the modern Christians emulate him to carry out mission so that they can continue spreading Christianity. Also, Paul helped in shaping modern Christianity by teaching the gospel of Jesus, and therefore, the modern Christians recognize Jesus as the cornerstone of Christianity.
