Introduction
The US Department of defense has been facing criticism on the unidentified aerial phenomena. This has forced the department to release three videos that depicted the encounters between the Navy and the unidentified aerial phenomena. These events were believed to have occurred between 2004 and 2015, but they had not been released until recently when the New York Times made the public by including the story on the front page. It was termed as the Pentagon’s mysterious UFO program in 2017. According to the New York Times, they say that the Navy had acknowledged the authenticity of those videos, but they had not been authorized for release by the Pentagon.
Each of the three videos contains images taken by naval pilots, showing a strange oval gliding through the air and the ocean. In a 2015 video entitled “Gimbal,” a flying object in the shape of a tick is thrown into the clouds before shrinking and starting to spin. The pilot, who resumes the session, describes him on the radio as “a damn drone, brother.” In another 2015 video, dubbed “Go Fast,” an airplane’s infrared system tracks a small white dot when it flies deep into the ocean. The previous video “FLIR1” also comes from an infrared system and shows an oval ob
The videos were originally published by the New York Times and the Academy of Stellar Arts and Sciences, a company founded by former Blink-182 leader Tom DeLonge to investigate UFOs and the like. When the videos were released in 2017, The Stars officials said the images were sent to the formal review process for publication. “All the videos were previously examined by the Ministry of Defense, according to the 1910 trial, and the Defense Office for security clearance before the release authorized them to be” fully cleared, ” says Luis Elizondo, to the director of government programs and services for the stars (Turak). Elizondo is a former Defense Ministry official who claims to have directed his advanced aerospace threat identification program, the “mysterious UFO program” mentioned in the Times report. The “1910 trial” refers to the 1910 Ministry of Defense form requesting permission to publish DOD information to the public.
Critical Analysis
In digital reporting, interactive links are important since people might want to share your content. In this case, due to the plagiarism issue, it is important to have such items in an article. In this article, their links to social media platforms such as Facebook Twitter and Instagram. This gives flexibility to the reader. He does not have to copy the text and post it. Also, he or she has to do is to share it across the social media platform (“Acknowledgement to Reviewers of Multimodal Technologies and Interaction in 2017”). The email also helps in daily subscriptions by loyal customers to updates. When compared to traditional reporting, digital reporting is more advanced, with the multimodal features being incorporated.
The use of videos in the article helps the reader get to watch the video as he or she continues reading the article. Videos are a way of attracting attention. A person will first watch the video in an article before finding out the views or what the writer intended. This multimodal approach is best when reporting an evidence-based report. Something that needs perception from both the writer and the reader. In this case, the issue of UFOs would be biased if the writer only explained what he had seen in the video without giving the reader a chance.
The headings of the article are well organized. This makes it easy for one to notice. It also acts as a guide when one is reading the text. Headings have an importance in the organization of an article. It prevents the author from jumping from one topic to another. To the reader, it attracts attention. Some keywords can make the writer conclude what the article is all about. So the article had good keywords and headings (“Acknowledgement to Reviewers of Multimodal Technologies and Interaction in 2017”). The headings are also used to link the article with other relevant stories that a writer might want i.e., the previous article that had given an explanation about a certain topic.
Lastly is color. Color is an important thing in digital reporting. This is because it makes the work both visible and appealing. In the article above, the author mixed different colors in different headings (“Acknowledgement to Reviewers of Multimodal Technologies and Interaction in 2017”). They both had a significant impact since they helped in catching attention. Traditional print media lacked color in their work. It was hard to distinguish between headings. The use of one color also was tiresome on the reader. It never gave him that urge to want to read more on the article.
Conclusion
In an increasingly multimodal media scenario, images and videos are of paramount importance in today’s public discourse. The photos in an article tell the story more than ever and express public opinions and beliefs. The multimodal text indicates meaning by combining two or more modes. For example, written language can be integrated with static images and spatial design. Methods have their own specific functions and functions to define meaning, and each generally has an inclusion section in a multimodal script. With continuous technological progress, human communication will change considerably. Modern culture has become increasingly visual; Colors, graphics, and other non-verbal tools are used not only for entertainment but also for interaction and communication of a certain meaning. For example, the Pentagon article features three videos of Navy Pilot UFOs that use images to communicate political and social messages.
Movies, illustrated books, magazines, and posters are multimodal texts. There is an exceptional combination of visual and written modes to represent and create meaning. This approach estimates the availability and use of various methods, including language, image, gesture, posture, and music, to transmit, identify, and interact within a given culture. The organization and semiotic resources of each modality face different limits and the ability to make sense. In fact, it can be described as a social process, as a cultural aspect must be explained by multimodal aspects, such as a film.
Visual texts contain several elements, each of which plays a crucial role in conveying the meaning of the material. In cinema, it is necessary to involve different parties to create an economically and culturally competent product. The article was developed in different scenarios, but, as explained above, it serves to convey a message to the public. Therefore, visual contexts can be used as vehicles for entertainment and communication. In short, it can be said that multimodality is becoming increasingly clear in the news and plays a key role in shaping public opinion and the perspective of social problems. As explained above, the specific reasons for a contribution play an important role in the types of images or their absence inserted in an article. With the 24-hour information cycle and the increasing temporality of information, images are now more than ever the largest part of our society’s narrative. Therefore, it is important to understand the production and meaning of these images, which can be done through pictures.
