Permanent and temporary jobs
As we knew that advantages and disadvantages are there always in everything. Same as having a permanent job from a temporary one has great benefits and drawbacks as well. When you have a permanent job somewhere, then you are bound there and cannot move ahead if you get better job opportunities as well. When you work as a permanent employee, then it also limits your potential to earn because it bans you from taking another simultaneously existing job. Permanent employees often lack in getting personal freedom or flexibility because as compare to temporary one or a contractor, permanent employees have to be in the office during their working hours, which are set. As temporary workers are working for a short period, they get this opportunity of meeting new people and learning different skills while exploring new work but permanent employees are downgraded to particular duties on specific positions. If I am a prospective job seeker, then I will look into advantages of permanent job like having job security, you can also train other hires or new ones, you also receive more beneficial packages as compared to temporary ones like insurance, health, holidays, you also receive retirement benefits.
If you are a permanent employee, you might even get promotion or advancement in your job unlike temporary ones, but I will also focus on the disadvantages of not getting the flexibility of moving to another place if it meets your demands. You cannot work simultaneously for another company because you are bound here, it also makes you deprive of learning new skills and achieving more, it also results in stagnation of career, and you have very less experience as well (Susan,2018).
Under some circumstances like being financially unstable you choose to move from temporary job toward permanent one because of all those advantages that a permanent employee is getting. If one is of older age, then he will choose to become permanent because of those retirement benefits that a permanent employee gets. If one wants a proper daily schedule and a fixed salary, then he would definitely choose moving from temporary to permanent job. If a manager has a mix of temporary and permanent employees, then he would be unwilling to assign a job to a temporary person which requires a long term commitment he would never assign those jobs or works that requires a commitment, your fixed focus and loyalty because these things didn’t come under a temporary person. Also, if the manager wants to allocate jobs on the cost which they will provide after work or on a daily bas,is then they will prefer those employees who are temporary because permanent workers are on the fixed job with a fixed salary. If a company is working on a bigger project which is long term, then the manager would choose permanent employees who can work on a daily basis for a fix period which assures them that they will work with the company to run it smoothly unlike those who are temporary employees (Elana,2017).
Most of the temporary employee wouldn’t work as hard and wouldn’t give more focused on their work as they may feel that there are in a temporary position of the job. They feel like it’s no big deal if they lose the job. The employee who is permanent may seems to work harder and show good progress in their job. If you may perform a temporary to a permanent job that you may allow the temporary person job to work hard and show good progress to get a permanent position. There are also several challenges which may confront the organization manager are moral issues and employee relation by which he has to supervise in a mix of the permanent and temporary employee. The temporary employee may also not get settled with the employees who are permanent as if they are working with the same job and they didn’t get the same salary which permanent employee is getting (Anne,2018).
