Personal attraction.
Interpersonal attraction refers to a feeling a person has towards another. It can take many different forms, such as friendship, admiration, and love. The personal characteristics and the surrounding has a more significant impact on interpersonal attraction. Every person is greatly influenced by interpersonal attraction in their daily activities and, this has been the case in all the history of humanity. Several factors affect the personal appeal. They are proximity, similarity, reciprocity, familiarity, and physical attractiveness (Goddard, 2012). Let’s focus on the element of proximity and the factor of physical attractiveness.
Physical attractiveness is an essential component of people communication and interaction. Many research conducted indicates that romantic attraction is mainly found by physical attractiveness. Mostly during the early period of dating, individuals are more attracted physically to their partners whom they saw to be physically attractive. Physical attractiveness is essential on much social interaction by people, but the most significant impact of attractiveness relies on the relationships that are romantic and attractive (Garcia, 2012). On the other hand, proximity is the extent to which people are around our reach or geographically not far from us. Individuals are more likely to have friends in their vicinity and whom they interact with them daily (Egloff, 2008).
The general rules of attraction are subject to changes. The evolution may have a more significant impact on the adaptation and survival of personal magnetism. People should be able to understand and predict a comprehensive criterion of social behaviours involving those associated with conflict, attraction, deception, unfaithfulness and emotions. They should adopt different strategies that help cope up with interpersonal evolution. Practices may change in various relationships, and people should find measures to adapt. (Wayne, 2014).
