Personal Statement: Adult Protection Services
The most challenging aspect of working in protective services is the knowledge that I need to help, but I am unable because I have outsourced all the resources. Adults who need protection, elderly and the disabled are always looking out for someone to bring them aid. They have a constant hope for the better which often ends in disappointment. As an adult protective service provider, I must avail the needed resources to them. However, in some instances, the available resources are not sufficient to give them complete help. It appeals to me because I believe everyone needs to live, accessing all their basic needs. My inability to help some of them after outsourcing all materials is my great challenge and fear.
My education, experiences and skills have prepared me to become an Adult Protective service provider. I have a bachelor in business; it has helped me to learn to manage resources efficiently as well as create useful ideas to add value and profits in people’s lives. I also have a bachelor in nursing. I have gained skills on how to interact and manage adults undergoing abuse, neglect and exploitation. Moreover, I know the relevant policies and care they need. Additionally, I have a master’s in Addiction Counselling. I can use my counselling skills to advise and help adults under protection services to avoid using drugs or overcome using drugs since they are prevalent to abuse them to escape reality.
I have goals I aim to accomplish personally and professionally. As an individual, I want to help adults make their life meaningful. I believe we all desire to leave a positive impact in the world. However, adults under protective services can easily give up on their dream. I want to help them regain their self-potential and have a desire to accomplish their goals. Professionally, I want to ensure the elderly and disabled members in communities are safe. Moreover, they need to be able to make personal decisions and have independence.
