Persuasive Speech on why Culinary Class should be Offered at School.
Introduction
As most of you know, culinary classes are cooking classes that are meant to enact students with cooking skills. Some of these skills that are offered in culinary classes include the necessary skills to be a chef, cleanliness, creativity, and the skills to pay attention to detail. Learning culinary arts is very important since it helps the students not only acquire the skills but also appreciate cooking as an art, appreciate other people’s culture, provide them with opportunities to travel all over the world, learn how to practice a healthy lifestyle among many other benefits. I will explain some of these benefits in detail as I try to bring my point home that culinary classes should be offered in school.
Body
One of the reasons the school should offer culinary classes is for the students to be embedded with cooking skills. Learning how to cook is one of the essential life skills that each one of us should possess. We all feel good when we have a good meal, and for the good taste of the meal to be achieved, one must have some culinary skills. Some of these skills include cooking and baking techniques that are taught. Also, the students may develop other skills in the process; for example, creativity whereby the students can practice their creativity and enhance it while cooking and designing new recipes. The students will also be taught the importance of cleanliness, and they may also learn how to pay attention to detail (Patterson et al. 11). These are some of the many skills that the students may acquire from the culinary classes.
The second reason is that the students will learn how to appreciate different cultures. By studying culinary students will be able to learn the culture of other people since food is closely related to culture. Most of the different available foods are recipes that have been passed down from one generation to another, and by studying culinary arts, one will be able to appreciate the different cultures. In turn, the appreciation of culture will help the students build empathy for people, and there will be peaceful coexistence.
Moreover, learning culinary will help the students appreciate and see cooking as an art, just like any other. The purpose of preparing food is not only for reasons such as ensuring people enjoy what they eat, but it is also a way of sharing art with other people. Simple things such as the arrangement of plates is an art something that whoever you are preparing the meal for can enjoy looking at. Therefore studying culinary will help the students see and appreciate cooking as an art.
Lastly, the students will be able to learn how to lie healthy lifestyles since nutrition will also be taught in the classes. They will learn how to create dishes that are nutritious but are at the same delicious and hence avoid going for food that is not healthy. For instance, restaurants such as farm to table kind offer their customers vega meals that are delicious and nutritious (Suhairom et al. 217). The students will also have opportunities to travel the world, especially those that will choose to undertake related degrees since many positions all over the world require culinary skills.
Conclusion
Therefore, the study of culinary arts is very important as students expand their horizons in many ways. The classes will aid the students to acquire cooking skills that are essential when preparing food. The students will, in addition, have a deeper appreciation for cooking as an art and other people’s culture. They will learn how to maintain healthy lifestyles since they will be taught nutrition. Culinary classes should, therefore, be offered at school because of the many benefits it may have to the students.
