Piaget’s theory of moral development

The theory is used as the basis of the ideologies of moral development among children. The theory portrays morality in a very distinctive way and also helps in the derivation of different aspects of morality. The Gene Piaget’s theory of moral development helps in describing the general moral construction of the world developed by different children. Gene is more concerned with the moral reasoning of the children and focuses on the reasoning of these children besides what they do. Concerning the definition of the moral development of the child, Piaget states that the moral development of children is affected by the moral setting, the self, and the level of influence the parents have on the child at that particular state of life. The two moral strata, as defined by Piaget’s, include the moral realm, where children observe morality as the obedience of laws.

Piaget’s moral theory, therefore, develops the understanding of taking responsibility among children between the ages of 7 to 9 years. The theory defines the moral rights of individuals to effect justice in moral relations. It minimizes any attempts to resort to cannibalism or lying and stealing to other children and people in society. Piaget’s theory discusses children’s ability to ensure the exploration of the world.  The depiction of this theory shows that the moral development of children is heterogeneous. According to this theory, the control of children is handed over by either teachers, parents, or government leaders. An analysis of the theory reveals that children view these figures as the quidance in line with the  consequences of the set rules. According to Piaget’s theory of moral development, the morality of children changes towards the end of childhood development. In this stage of children’s lives, they have developed a new perspective of their moral understanding. About the thesis, this stage of the children’s development enables them to see situations from a new perspective.

The analysis of the boy’s situation in the novel shows how he is able to receive a moral solace and guidance despite the circumstances of his life. The events in the novels also affirm the importance of the moral development of children and how they can achieve the control of emotions and moral development in society.
