Political Landscape and International Trade
The political factors of every country are the determinants of various sectors within the same country. Politics determine the governance of a country based on the people who are in the administration seats of the country. As some have defined governance, it is supreme management and maximum control if a government’s administration. This is run by a small group of people who are given the responsibility based on the regime change of the country. One of the sectors greatly affected by the governance of the country is the economic development of a country.
Over the years, regime change has followed various paths, often dictated by the ones who are in power. The level in which they run the country will determine how leadership is transitioned to the next level. The United States of America, the country has been operating on democracy for the past two centuries. The change of leadership follows an electoral vote where every citizen participates. The leaders are elected according to the manifestos of their political parties. People would assess them and chooses a leader; they think his manifesto would best suit the country.
The influence of social media has greatly affected how these elections are done. In many countries, the interest has moved from that of the citizens to the individuals who want to take power. Cases have been witnessed where the freedom of expression of people is taken away. A recent case is when Ma Link, a blocker from Beijing China, went silent due to the huge influence she had on social media (Hernández, 2019). Allegations have it that she was posing threats to the leadership which supposedly were engaging in dirty staff and would want to hide them.
Similar cases have been experienced in Indonesia where Sang, a professor who protested against the army is jailed, similar to Surabaya, who was accused of defaming the law through the media (Paddock, 2019). It is clear that these individual just used their freedom of expression to air the ills of those in the government.
Together with this, globalization which initially served to elevate many countries seems to be retrieving. This is because recent cases have seen many countries retreating from regional blocks. A future is foreseen where international trade is inhibited, bringing about another depression like the one in the 1930s (Gruyter, 2018). President Trump just withdrew some of the trade based alliances they had made especially with China and chose and internal production.
These trends both in the political arena, which affects the economy would lead to a recession in the future. The reason for many countries is that they are instituting controls to protect internal industries. However, this should not be the case since it takes a total blockage of international trade. This may deteriorate globalization and little industrial and economic growth in some countries.
Due to these developments, political regimes appear to be moving towards a struggle for personal interest either at country level or at an individual level — a majority a seeking for personal development and ignoring that of others. The political environment, therefore, is currently unstable due to these, and if corrections are not made, a more unstable future can be anticipated. It may even lead to another tumult of war for economic gains for every country.
The world war led to the development of globalization, where countries like the United States focused on industrialization. At that time, it was the economic leader since it concentrated on economic development while other countries were on the war. For years, it has maintained to be a superpower, based on its economic developments and the strong leadership it has had. The governance of the country is based on firm patriotism and for the general development of the country.
Recent developments, however, have shown a changing trend in the curve. China and Japan are emerging with a fast-growing economy. The countries have done this through intense globalization and reducing the cost of production. The two are posing a threat to the United States, which has become a superpower for a long time. These developments are what is causing the US government under Trump to remove some of the international economic relations in a bid to protect local production.
The effect is that countries will be triggered to withdraw and do internal production. This may cause international political turmoil since some countries will be affected. These would mostly include the developing countries who may not meet some level of production due to high production costs. A more unstable political environment would, therefore, be developed which would affect the world at large.
In conclusion, the political landscape of the country currently takes the shape of democracy, which is being internally dictated by the internal government. This follows a struggle for economic dominance where every country wants to be the dominator and therefore blotting out other countries. Globalization is limited and therefore, leading to political instability and leading to a more unstable state in the future.
