Poor nurse staffing
I agree with you that poor nurse staffing has led to a poor patient outcome, whereby the number of patients is increasing due to poor healthcare. The evidence-based practice recommends that the nurse-patient ratio be 1:2 for quality care (In Balogh, In Miller, In Ball, & Institute of Medicine, 2015). Inadequate nurse staffing leads to burnout, loss of intrinsic motivation, and medical errors, which must be solved to promote quality healthcare. Nurse training and education programs will help provide quality and safe healthcare, though this has not been explored fully. This poses a challenge in the nursing field, for example, errors like CAUTIs. Nurses are responsible for reducing preventable illness if at all, the organizational culture will be promoted. Nurse students should integrate the organizational culture in all operations, and they should communicate, collaborate and work in teams to successfully achieve common goals (In Balogh, In Miller, In Ball, & Institute of Medicine, 2015).
