Powers Company
The success or failure of any company, organization, or Corporation lies in the management of the company. How issues are handled, the decision-making approach, and the type of governance that is used in the organization (Hermalin, 2014). Other factors would include the strategies that are put in place to ensure that the company achieves its goals and objectives. Many organizations, being led with sober and innovative employees and leaders of the company, would be high chances, attained their success. This was the case with Powers company, developed by the should partner, Mr. Duke, and though his efforts and real knowledge, he saw the company thrive and hit the largest market share.
Duke Clinton, currently the chief executive officer of the Powers company, began his career as a young man. While growing up, it always bothered him seeing the parents go miles to shop for items. As he journeyed in his education, Duke always thought of how he was going to bridge this problem because his town, Flowers town, was so remote. It was difficult for merchants to come to the city since it was distant, and the town men had to travel miles to the town to purchase items.
Flower town was a rural agricultural town with a population of about 300, 000 veterans, with little immigrants from another region. People in this town services by subsistence production, with small commercial goods. One of the things which didn’t work well was the fact that the young people would study and once they are out of colleges, they relocate to the cities. This leaves the Flower town without people. Mr. Duke thought that if he were to succeed academically, he would be more delighted to come back and develop his city.
Upon finishing college, one of the tasks was to identify an activity that he could do. What favored duke was the fact that he was so determined not to be employed by anyone. All he wanted was actually to employ other people, and thus, he began hunting for business opportunities. In urban places, businesses are advanced, and therefore starting one was a bit difficult. He, therefore, though of the hometown and was so thrilled to have realized that there was a vast opportunity that had not been discovered.
The idea behind starting the Powers company was to utilize the agricultural production that was back in the town. Duke realized that the people did subsistence production due to lack of mechanization. There was, therefore, the possibility of the large-scale output since the land was available. At the moment, there were government loans that were being Offred for young entrepreneurs. Duke begun the company, hired area, and begun large scale production. The company mainly planted vegetables and produced strawberries as the main product. It would act as the producer and wholesaler, with which the products would be transported to the cities. This was the birth of Powers company.
On top of the production that Duke had from the hired land, the locals also resorted to doing commercial farming since three was ready to market for the products, in Powers company. The community round was so supportive of the company and was willing to help where possible. Duke also acquired assistance form the family. The company grew gradually, with the increase I capacity and the employees. The people who worked in the company mainly came from the community. This is one aspect of corporate social responsibility, which requires that the company gives back to society.
The powers company mainly made its supplies to restaurants, hotels, and food processing factories in the cities. Powers grew to become among the leading suppliers of vegetables and strawberries in the city. The mission of the company was to be the leading producer of fresh agricultural products, vegetables in particular, and fruits for a healthy nation. The company developed its strategies alongside the demands and the requirements of its customers. With time, it also opened branched in other parts of the country, mostly making use of the rural areas which most people would ignore.
Duke also utilized the four components of corporate strategy in the development of the business. These mainly induce the allocation of resources, organization design, portfolio management, and strategic tradeoffs (Tricker, 2015). The organization design gave the structure of how the organization looked like, with a map of all the branches that had been opened. Decision making was centralized, with Duke being the chief executive officer. The rest was head of departments, initially, and later, with the expansion of the company had, to have a board of directors. The portfolio management invalidates to track all the developments in the company and everything that happened in the organization.
One of the most exciting things is the fact that Duke incorporated his employees in decision making. The human resource members had the responsibility of collecting feedback from the employees on ow the organization is fairing and come up with suggestions. These would be analyzed, and the good ones are employed in the organization. It also spread even to the farmers back in the production farm. They would have the decision made on how the farming was going to done. For example, they would suggest the fertilizers to be used and the kind of seedling, under the assistance of agricultural expertise. This is because Duke believed in their contribution since they have been doing this farming for long and understand the patterns on crop production.
The company also had a program where they would engage in community service. Every month, the company used to clean society and offer free lunch to the entire community. The plan was organized in such an away that on that particular day, half of the employees would go the public and do a communal cleaning of the environment and welcomes any of the people who were willing to participate. The day would end with a lunch and rewarding of those who participated. The company also would give holiday gifts to its employees and thus explains the success that followed after that. Flower town developed to become one of the bid rural towns, courtesy of Powers company. This development, therefore, saw the dreams of Duke come true. He ended up opening other stores in the city that would bring products near as part of his social responsibility, and therefore, the people of Flower town couldn’t travel to the cities again.
In conclusion, ambition and determination are what would make any project a success. The desire of Duke to bring a change, and the zeal to do it is what brought about the success of Powers company. It is prudent that, in everything that humans do, so it to the benefit of the others. Even though the goal of every business ifs for profit maximization, it should focus first on bringing a solution to the collective and then make profits later.
