Qualitative Summary
Hand hygiene among healthcare workers: A qualitative Meta summary using the GRADE-CERQual process, is an article that explains the why hygiene is essential in the hospitals. The type of research that is evident in this article is the qualitative research. The main research questions that were used to guide the study included;
- What is hand hygiene?
- How is hand hygiene important among health care workers?
In order to come up with the findings of the research, there has to be a sample that would be used to gain information. The sample that was used in this case were health care workers in various hospitals. The sample size that was used for this research were 30 health care worker (Chatfield, DeBois & Nolan, 2017). The main attributes that this sample had was that they were easily accessible to provide the required information. The other attribute that the sample had was they provided information from real-life experience while working in the hospitals. The setting of this study was within a health care facility because it sought to identify why health care workers should observe hand hygiene. The main findings that the researcher came up with was that health care hygiene is essential in health care facilities as this will ensure the patients are safe(Chatfield, DeBois & Nolan, 2017). Moreover, the research advocated that training should be done to provide health care workers are educated about hand hygiene. Therefore, the hospital should make it part of their culture to promote health care hygiene among its workers to reduce the number of hospital-acquired infections.
Quantitative Summary
Nurses’ Knowledge Regarding Hand Hygiene and Individual and Organizational Predictors is an article that explains why it is important for nurses to know about hand hygiene. This type of research is quantitative research. The main research questions that guided the study were;
1. How important is hand hygiene?
2. How does understanding hand hygiene help nurses in reducing infections acquired in hospitals?
The sample that was selected for this study were the nurses working in different hospitals (Asadollahi, Bostanabad & Jebraili, 2015). The sample size that was selected for this study were ten nurses. The attribute of this sample chosen is that they were flexible, and they provided the required information effectively. The second attribute of the sample selected is that they provided true information that helped to develop the findings of the research(Asadollahi, Bostanabad & Jebraili, 2015). The setting of this study was done in a health care facility. Since the sample of this study were nurses, the study had to be down around the health facility because that is where they could get the required information. The main findings that the researchers came up with within this study was that the nurses must be aware of hand hygiene practices. Hand hygiene practices will ensure that they do not result in certain acquired hospital infections, which ends up affecting the patients.
