Question 1

I agree that cloud computing can reduce the total cost of computing and enhance “green computing.” This is because cloud computing simply implies efficiency, services bundled together, and flexibility. These three are the significant characteristics that make cloud computing cost and environmentally friendly. The rapid growth of cloud computing across the globe is increasingly promising flexibility and efficiency in the services offered specifically when it comes to outsourced hosting, which is commonly known as infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) (Chou, 2015).

Being a new approach to the current IT infrastructure, the path followed in search of resources is logical and efficient. This minimizes possibilities of incurring extra charges and thus, reducing the costs. Integration of cloud computing into business organizations transforms them and makes them even more competitive. Besides, cloud computing allows organizations to enjoy multiple services like with minimum dollars. Such benefits include processing power and expansion of storage memory. This is because of the flexible nature of cloud computing, and also the ability for the organization to quickly provide its resources.

Anytime, anywhere access feature of cloud computing enhances green computing because it offers access to any individual from any point. Regardless of the place where you are, cloud vallows one access to vital information

Question 3

Planning can be defined as the process through which an organization determines both immediate and long-term objectives as well as strategies through which they can be achieved. Preparation entails resource allocation and staffing. In my personal opinion, planning is essential because of the following reasons. The plan enhances efficiency with which the organization carried out its activities, increasing the possibilities of succeeding.

Secondly, planning helps in minimizing the risks that are entailed in modern business and modern business strategies. Another importance of planning is that it facilitates appropriate coordination of the overall organizational activities, thus, helps in aiding and managing the available resources. Lastly, planning in an organization will uphold proper control; therefore, achieving objectives will be more manageable (Doherty et al., 2016).

A critical system is systems whose failures in the relevant organization can result in severe consequences. In banks, process control and database systems are mission-critical systems. Slight disruptions of such a system can result in significant consequences and even breakdown of the organization. Bank heavily rely on the data that they are having and the process control system to execute tasks. A slight tamper with these two will, therefore, imply that entire operations will go down, and this is a way of welcoming losses.

Question 4

Thailand floods are one of the natural disasters that disrupted more than eight companies at a go. This was one of the worst floods that Thailand has experience for over five decades. The most affected companies, however, were automotive and technology-based industry. Thailand being a middle-sized company with a population of 67 million, they rely on supply chains.

Toyota, an automobile company that we want to examine at the moment that registered the highest number of losses due to this flood. From this disaster, Toyota has terminated the production of its parts in North America. The rationale behind the ceasing of their services in this part is the interruption that the floods caused in their supply of Thai-made components. Also, Toyota branches in Canada and the UK will be shut down as well. These stations will be shut down to reduce the losses incurred, and they will be reopened again once the situation comes back to normal. According to the report issued by the company’s management, more than 37,500 vehicles have been lost in southern parts of Asia (Tanoue et al., 2018). The number is expected to go high. In terms of the decrease in profit, the organization is expected to go down by $1.6 billion.
