Reasons for Increase in Gun Massacres in the USA

Recently, an increase in gun killings has been experienced in the USA. This has raised concern to many people, and it is high time that this comes to a halt. The negative impacts of gun violence have led to a human rights crisis as many people continue to lose their lives. A recent study conducted by Amnesty International has shown that more than 360 people are shot each day in the USA, which is quite an alarming number(John 147). There are reasons as to why gun violence exists.

Illegal ownership of firearms is the leading cause of gun violence. The reason for this is that many people in the country acquire their guns from dealers who are not registered and authorized by the law to deal with the weapons(Sarah 349). Intentions of this back-door buyer may be evil. They may be intending to commit crime or revenge, which may lead to the shootings of innocent people. The government should put strict measures on gun ownership to curb this problem.

People who have psychological disorders are at a higher risk of misusing weapons (John 147). The national firearm registry may give licenses to people without running a background check to ensure that the person is in a position to handle guns. These people usually suffer from stress and emotional issues hence may be easily agitated and cause firearm deaths.

Failure to have an incomplete database by the National firearm registry may make it challenging to trace gun owners(Sarah 349). This registry should ensure that they update their records more frequently. By doing this, the identification of criminals will be made more accessible and will not be able to get away with justice.

Accidental gun deaths can also cause mass killings. This happens when Firearms are not stored properly. It is recommended that guns should be kept in a locked place and should also remain unloaded. This will ensure that the arms are out of the reach of children and thus preventing killings. A research study showed that keeping arms locked could reduce the death rate to 7.2%(John 147)

Poor concealed – carry policies can lead to mass deaths. This includes the guidelines put across to allow people to carry guns in public. Concealed -carry laws should be stricter to ensure that people do not misuse these firearms(John 147). A person on possession of a concealed weapon should have a permit. People who deviate from these regulations should be stripped of the license to serve as a lesson to others.

Drug abuse may contribute to deaths caused by gun shootings. The use of drugs alters the normal functioning of the body(Sarah, 349). People under the influence of drugs should be allowed by the law to own any weapon as it is hazardous. Once engaged in a physical fight, they might end up shooting people randomly and cause deaths. In the end, widows and orphans will be left behind with nobody to take care of them.

A child exposed to violence is more likely to be involved in any form of abuse, more so gun violence Violence makes a person more aggressive and depressed (Sarah, 349). There is a likelihood that in their adulthood, they may become criminals. Parents should be keen to monitor their children’s behavior and ensure that they get the correct upbringing. The government should also ensure that children’s rights are not violated.

Peer pressure can drive someone to get involved in mass shootings. The youth are at a higher risk of these since they spend most of their time playing video games and watching movies(John 147)These movies may influence them to emulate what is being done in the videos and end up killing innocent people. The government should put strict measures on video productions to curb these problems.

The pursuit of fame is also a cause of mass killings. Drug cartels may want to engage in these gunfights for them to have supremacy in that region(Sarah 349). In the process, deaths may occur to innocent bystanders. For instance, a gunfight in a club could be very detrimental to all people in the club. The police hawk-eyed in enforcing order at these places.

To sum up, all the factors explained above can be addressed to stop mass deaths. Prevention is the best option as this killing leaves deep scars to all parties affected. The government has not done enough to ensure that these killings are put to an end. It is high. We all take part in fighting against mass killings.

Regarding revising, I have added more reasons as to why people get involved in mass killings and gun violence. I have also been able to give more solutions concerning these reasons, which I think will help solve this menace.
