Reflection about Alf Layla (The Thousand and one Night)
The thousand and one Night’s article reflects the various aspects of life that people face in the social aspects of society. Though the article is based in an ancient setting in Indian cultures and practices, the report also reflects on the various issues that affect society and communities’ current state. The article uses suspense and curiosity in explaining the lifestyle and the problems that affect every person in society. I like the article because it covers all the various aspects that affect people’s lives in the community regardless of their social status. From the article, people have multiple lessons to learn and deal with states that affect our lives.
The thousand and one Night uses suspense as a style to explain how society can be evil and deceptive, and also uses narration to give examples of the themes. The thousand and one Night’s central theme is Eroticism and sexuality. King Shahryar is distressed after discovering that his wife is having affairs with other men in the palace when the wife thinks that he is not around (Layla). His failure to be around the wife leads her wife to seek sexual satisfaction from the men around him, such as his workers. Out of distress, King Shahryar kills his wife and the slave she has been sleeping with and goes to his brother, also a king in another region. Shahryar then discovers that her brother’s wife and loyal maidens are also sleeping with the slave (Layla). Shahryar finds that his situation is not bad at all and that women are all unfaithful.
The thousand and one nights is easy to read and understand as it uses a simple structure and language. The article is useful in reflecting on the various aspects that affect our lives in marriage and social elements like family matters and leadership. The item is a good text, and I would recommend multiple groups of people, such as leaders, couples, and workers. From the book, I learn that everybody has challenges in marriage, sexual satisfaction, and Eroticism. From Shahrazad’s actions, I realize that sacrifice and love are ultimate prices people can pay to end oppression. Also, I learn that people should be cautious of the situations that happen to their close friends as anybody can face misfortunes.
