Reflection on Critical Thinking
I often use critical thinking in many areas of my life such as financial planning and religion albeit I will only focus on personal relationships. Critical thinking is of paramount importance since it helps one to be cognizant of different ways of solving a particular problem (Paul & Elder, 2019). It saves time because people have a better understanding of crucial information that is needed for making sounder decisions (Jackson, 2015). These sounder decisions are a result of using different types of reasoning, such as deductive, appropriately (Elder & Paul, 2020).
In regard to the benefits of critical thinking in how I relate with other people, it helps me to have a greater comprehension of not only my behavior but also other people’s reactions. Through it, I understand better ways that I can use to express my needs, hence reducing conflicts while interacting with other people. Additionally, critical thinking is indispensable when it comes to understanding other people’s ideas and standpoints, which helps me to give better responses. For instance, my life’s perspectives differ with those of my parents, thus increasing the likelihood of recurring arguments. Critical thinking plays pivotal roles in scrutinizing different situations and enhancing communication among family members to avert chaos (Cottrell, 2017). Although it is impossible to prevent conflicts and arguments completely, critical thinking reduces their seriousness. In my school life, the relationship between I and my professor is essential to score good grades. Following this development, critical thinking helps me to convince my lectures so that they can consider my opinions. Concluding, critical thinking helps me to maintain relationships with other people, such as family members, friends, and lectures.
