Research Design A
Nursing research is similar to a systematic inquiry that is aimed to develop knowledge on issues that are relevant to the nursing profession. Nursing research allows nurses to employ available research literature in making decisions that relate to nursing practice. The use of research has been a feature in nursing since evidence-based practice was incorporated in nursing. My opinion towards nursing research has greatly changed since I initially thought nursing research was a waste of time. The increased nursing workload made it hard for nurses to embrace nursing research but the significance of using research as the basis for evidence has increased my knowledge on the relevance of nursing research, changing my attitude towards the whole idea. Therefore I have a positive attitude towards nursing research, and I am willing to participate in the implementation of evidence-based practice in healthcare systems.
Various ways can be used to facilitate Evidence-based practice in a hospital. Among the ways, I can facilitate evidence-based practice by presenting solid evidence on the significance of use if evidence to promote patients outcome. This can be enhanced by designing training programs for all nurses and clinicians in hospitals which can be used to add on skills and knowledge to nurses on the use of research as the basis for evidence. The use of evidence during the training sessions can increase acceptance of evidence-based practice in the hospitals. When nurses and other medical professionals see some pieces of information that are relevant to practice and which can make a difference to the care given to patients, they trust the system. Similarly, increasing participation of colleagues in the use of research during patient will also facilitate EBP in a hospital due to change of attitude and trust gained from the use of evidence in practice.
