Respected Professor John Carver
Greetings from India,
I, Stephen Browne am a 2nd-year undergraduate(UG) pursuing 3-year Bachelors of Science Chemistry Honours in St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, India which is ranked among the best colleges of India for pursuing undergraduate studies in Science.
I am a highly motivated individual looking for opportunities to learn more about science, specifically in Organic Chemistry to broaden my horizon so that I can equip myself with the best abilities to help in the advancement of science and our society. I got to know about the quality of research of the Research School of Chemistry of Australian National University and while going through the website your research interest in peptide and protein structure and studying their function and mechanism highly intrigued me. Since I was studying biospecific antibodies and how they can provide many health benefits using orthogonal functional groups and selective protein degradation. I went through your work on Small heat shock proteins and Amyloid aggregation and they helped me understand the importance to study this branch of chemistry. I was amazed to see the complexity and diversity of sHSPs and the function of aggregated peptides and their interaction with peptide-membrane. I had a few questions of my own and to get more in-depth knowledge on the subject and would love to interact with you. I know the challenges faced currently in this field and the need for extensive research which will help our society because of its varied applications and would like to learn from you regarding this study.
My interest in Chemistry started from an early and seeing the astronomical number of carbon compounds around me and it inspired me to pursue research in organic chemistry and I believe learning from you about this field will help me gain practical and theoretical knowledge about the subject and allow me to generate new innovations in this field and strive forward in Chemical Sciences.
Therefore I am writing to seek an internship opportunity in a research project under you in the near future according to your availability to learn from you and as this is my research interest and am ready to work hard. I have attached my CV below. Kindly consider my application. I will be highly obliged.
Yours sincerely
Stephen Browne
