Response to a post on organization
Response
Hello classmate, I had the opportunity to go through your post, and the information from your post clearly showed that workers in your organization were classified according to their age brackets, that is, baby boomers, generation X, millennials and generation Z just as in my organization. I agree with you that the top positions in the organization are mainly occupied by baby boomers because, also, my organization and other organizations I had visited, I realized the same trend. Engstrom (2015) argues that baby boomers are most preferred in the top positions because of their vast experience.
I would disagree with your message about the concerns of millennials being given first priority by the baby boomers and generation Xers leaders because of their huge size. According to Stivers (2015), leaders within the organization should obey Max Weber’s characteristics of bureaucracy. One of the bureaucratic characteristics of Max Weber is impersonality, where the rules apply equally to everyone. The success of an organization can only be achieved when the concerns of every member of the organization are considered rather than only considering the demands of a given group because of their numbers.
I have also realized that the bureaucratic structure in your organization is causing delays in implementing organizational ideas. To eliminate the problems caused by bureaucracy, I would suggest your organization to consider the steps of eliminating bureaucracy provided by Babauta. These steps include visualization of the results and knowing what you won’t get done, knowing your urgencies, reducing paperwork by avoiding unnecessary filling of forms when action needs to be done, and doing away with unnecessary steps so that to make operations in the organization quicker.
