Responsible Business Leadership
The interview I conducted was with Starbucks’s assistant product manager. The manager holds a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness management as well as a master’s honor in Human resource management. He holds extensive experience having worked for the organization in the past seven years. Likewise, before joining the company, he had worked for several organizations serving various roles. For instance, he started working as a sales manager in Agiley’s sports shop, after which he became an assistant director in Hermack’s cosmetic shop before getting his current position of assistant product manager at Starbucks hotel. The working experiences have enabled him to become an excellent leader who can effectively manage processes in an organization.
According to the manager, leadership refers to the ability of an individual or an organization to guide and lead teams, organizations, and individuals. His definition of leadership tends to describe a good leader (Bell, 2006). He, therefore, represents a great leader as the one with great vision, integrity, honesty, courage, and the one who serves a more significant cause. Regarding this, he shares some of his best leadership moments and the worst experiences he has had so far. He states that the biggest challenge he usually faces is to implement new changes in an organization.
On the other hand, he talks about the role of values and ethics in leadership. Hence, he, therefore, believes that ethical moral values in an organization help to stimulate effective leadership. Moreover, he adds that leaders with excellent benefits and ethics often generate high performance in their areas of work. Lastly, the leaders exemplify their responsible leadership in several ways. The way they monitor, lead, control, and organize events and people demonstrate their effectiveness in leading. Likewise, they got skills to give direction to the entire organization.
