Review of Literature

According to Aruguete et al. (2019), a problem exists whereby there is a disconnection from nature by people and a sudden interest in mass media. As such, the scope of the study is centered around examining the association that exists between the interest in nature and the eventual attraction to mass media. The sample that was used in this study was 185 English-speaking community-based adults who were obtained through Mechanical Turk. in this sample, the following factors were measured; environmental knowledge, attraction to celebrities, and finally environmental attitudes.

Apart from the primary purpose, the study had a secondary objective whereby the measures of both the environmental attitudes and knowledge are to be validated. As expected, the findings showed that those people that were majorly attracted to celebrities were seen to have less knowledge of the environment. In addition to this, the results that were obtained were able to show the validity of both the environmental knowledge and attitude measures. However, the two measures are seen to only be marginally related to one another.

According to Avritzer (2017), there were a number of changes that took place in Brazil in June 2013 which led to the change in the way people were seen to participate in society. As such, the problem that exists is that the changes sparked attention worldwide and due to less information on the matter, this study is aimed at adding more meat to the discussion. In particular, the paper is focused on analyzing these very changes and point out the ways in which they were able to influence the nation’s political system and thus made an impact on the organization of the country’s democracy.

The sample that was used in this study was the Brazilian population where 2,200 people were selected and a survey was given to them concerning questions that surrounded their pattern of population. According to the findings, the nature of social participation was different in all levels of society, which is from the lowest class to the wealthy in society. In this case, the lowest in society was seen to have less than common appearances in the social framework. This was mainly because of the little they could do in society. For the middle-class individuals, they were primarily seen in common gatherings and provided support as a group. As for the wealthy in society, they were rarely seen but when they were, they would leave an impact. These are situations of how social patterns have changed.

According to Dixon (2019), he argues that limited effects theory is an important theory when it comes to society and its association with mass media. The main focus of the book is surrounded by vehemently debating that people are in control of their actions when it comes to what they watch or hear, therefore, the influence of the mass media is seen to be minimal.

The population used to derive the assumptions and assertions made in the book are from across the globe. The findings in the book support the claims that each individual is practically capable of deciding what they hear and watch

According to Garfin et al. (2020), they state that the COVID-19 is one respiratory disease that originated in China and has spread across the globe leaving deaths on its wake and trail. Apart from this, the pandemic has resulted in another problem for the whole world to deal with, the extent of media exposure on respiratory disease. As such, this study is focused on the way the media has captured the incidents of the virus from the time of break until now.

The sample that has been used for this study is the data belonging to other pandemics of such magnitude and also cases involving severe cases of trauma injuries and the like. The findings revealed that the media exposure of the virus had far-reaching effects from people suffering from stress and others going deep into depression.

According to Okunola (2016) culture is a big part of how the world is shaped. In this respect, it has the capability and capacity of being able to result in the sudden change of attitudes that are required for peace and sustainable development to take place. Therefore, this paper will focus on mass media as an agent of cultural imperialism. As such, this paper will examine the increasing aspect of one culture proving dominance over another, through this, the cultural elements from the dominant culture tend to pour to the dominated culture.

A number of findings are highlighted, they include; since communication is regarded as being intertwined with every aspect of modern-day life, the importance of mass media should be considered as holding potential and power in the pillars of moral, social, cultural and even economic goals of the entire nation. Finally, so as to make sure that cultural heritage has a prosperous future, it is paramount that mass media clinches revolutionary traits which are capable of presenting and forwarding the revolutionary purpose necessary for promoting heritage.
