Risk Incidence Occurrence
The system of database management that I have chosen for ABC hospital is SQLite. While in the hospital, there was a patient who could not avail of free medication since his data was lost by a nurse. The incident drew my attention towards this hospital. The patient’s name was Peter who suffered from dysthymia, a chronic depression. With this condition, he was prescribed with some citalopram, escitalopram, and fluoxetine (SSRIs) by the doctors. By the look, the patient had some mental and physical conditions and nurses and doctors ignored him despite the nurses losing his medical records. The situation made me think of a solution that could solve such problems of safety of the patient information and the clinical reports. SQLite is a powerful data management system contained in a C programming library embedded in the end program. In aiming at the needs of our patients, this system of database management appears appropriate for the hospital.
For the features and the requirements of this system of database management, SQLite is embedded in the final program and not a client-server database engine. With the help of this service, the staff members will have the ability to protect the patient data (Saeed & A.M, 2015). Again, they will be able to share critical information over a centralized system without the need to worry about offline and online thefts. I have seen this system of data management to be comprehensive and requires very little support from the operating system or an external library. Additionally, the server process of the system is not separate. SQLite application software can be used under all environments; for local storage and or organizations.
To develop the data model, the system requires quality resources such as SQLite official documentation where useful contents and articles like the patient’s information can be found. SQLite Tutorial net website that covers everything in broad hand-on practices. Other resources include; tutorial point SQLite tutorial that is very detailed and covers everything that has been installed by the SQLite (Hajdarbegovic, 2019). These resources ensure that the developed clinical database enables retrieval and entry of data on patients who are given quality care based on standards. It will also give a detailed number of patients who were not given quality care as per the standards of the management. Moreover, to create a database that entails the risks on the lives of the patients in the hospital (Bellatreche, Valduriez, & Morzy, 2018). The information will describe the type of error, the nurse involved in the error, the impact of the error to the health of the patient, and the consequences of the risk.
Every staff member in the hospital is entitled to a list of duties and every duty is assigned to specific employees. In this hospital, we have various employees, and the breakdown of their responsibilities according to their departments is as follows: Departmental officers; they access the database for updates and ensures quality measures are implemented. Data entry clerks are responsible for entering quality data in the database system. The administrative secretary accesses the clinical database and develops a report for the management. The management executive accesses the database report for decision-making by the management. Database administrators manage database operations in the whole health organization (Wang, 2019). As described, the data model consideration will help to describe the evaluation of data.
Conclusion
As can be seen, SQLite is among the most popular database system that is widely used in the various institution. Then again, the implementation is possible since it will not take a long period to complete. Additionally, the SQLite system will be appropriate since it will help to improve the compiling of the report hence quality care and measures of critical clinical data will be taken in the facility. Moreover, the system will ensure quick data entry hence it will be easier for the management to make decisions. Another key thing to note is that the database results will assist in improving the delivery of care to all patients.
