Same form of art in different media

Every other day, technology keeps on changing. This has brought changes in almost all aspects of life that make use of technology. Art has not been left behind and has assumed the form referred to as new media art. The term generally refers to the forms of art that have been linked in one way or another, with the technologies. This could be in production, modification, or even transmission (Tribe et al. pg. 118). New media art includes animations, computer graphics, and so on. In the creation of this art, artists have unique ways of using the various elements of art. This is what is referred to as form. It is one of the seven elements of art. For any piece of art, the form is paramount to make it as captivating as the artist would like it to be. The form that an artist chooses to use makes their work unique and more affluent in information, depending on their creativity. This means that form is, therefore, paramount in art as well as in media. However, as discussed in the essay below, different types of media assume different forms of art. This is because they all vary in transmission, type, content, and in most cases, even the audience.

Media assumes a lot of importance when it comes to communication. Different types of media assume different forms of art. The rationale behind these forms is dependent on the type of media. For instance, the print media, which includes magazines, newspapers, and so on, can only support static forms of art like drawings and photographs. Usually, this media is accompanied by linguistic explanations so that the art only provides evidence of what is being discussed. Also, it may be used to enhance the information on the print media by visualizing it. Use of several pictures and description in print media makes it possible to convey that could otherwise be presented in other forms which the print media could not support. In addition to that, newsprint media forms one of the most advanced forms of traditional media (Nott et al. pg. 3). It, therefore, uses forms that could otherwise be supported by the low technology of the olden times. With time, development in technology has come to enhance the same forms of media.

The television and other broadcast media, for instance, combines the audio and visual display of information. This level of technology can display the same form of art like in newspapers but in a bit complex and captivating manner. For instance, instead of using a series of photos, there are animations. Animations are almost like videos. However, whereas videos are of real objects, animations are formed from a set of fast-changing images so that it looks like they are in motion. Unlike pictures, animations are more modernized in form as they use modern technology to produce and also transmit. In addition to that, graphical images could also be used in newspapers and other print media. Despite Graphical images forming part of digital forms of art, they display still images. This makes it possible to display them in print media. The instances show the translation of the forms of art between print media and the broadcast media.

The internet media, on the other hand, is more or less the same as the two types of media discussed above. It is so dynamic and changes faster than any other type of media. This is because technological advancements have a direct impact on the internet, and so any change in technology translates to a change in how people can access the internet. For instance, in the past thereof, the internet was only limited to people who had computers. With time there were laptops, and nowadays, anyone with a simple smartphone can access the internet. Either, the forms of data accessible from the web are valid. It is possible to access still photos, pictures, and graphics l(and any other form of art in print media). Besides that, it is also possible to watch videos and animations from the internet. The only limitation that could exist is only in the type of device that one is using. Essentially, the forms of art in the three types of media mentioned are all related only that some are advancement of others.

In addition to the above, we also have a clear translation of media forms from the traditional types of media to the new media. Traditional media generally refers to mediums that form part of our culture, for over half of the century. Consequently, televisions again fall under this category, billboards, print advertisements, and so on. In addition to these, we also have sculptures that were used in ancient times as a form of communication. They were used by developed cultures of those times like the Greek, Chinese, Indians, and Egyptians. The sculptures used to send a strong message, especially about the accomplishment of human beings. They were also used to sensitize people of the prevailing mood depending on situations prevailing at a given moment. These forms of art influenced people depending on their texture, shape, or color intensity, and time of formation.

Likewise, modern art depends on specific elements to communicate effectively. For instance, different colors in art can affect emotions (Hemphill 275-280). Also, color affects the perception of human beings on how quick or slow a web page is loading. This affects the willingness of individuals to visit the page, either negatively or positively (Gom 25-225). Colors that induce feelings of relaxation may encourage viewers to be a bit more patient and hence end up getting the intended message. Either, sculptures and billboards still make a lot of sense when it comes to the new media. Despite that they form part of traditional forms of art, the same still do exist in digital forms of art. The difference, perhaps, is on the enhancements that have been made due to technology. Otherwise, the aspects that influenced meaning still holds. This shows a strong relationship between art forms in traditional media and modern media. The only difference perhaps is that traditional art was mainly aimed at representing reality. In contrast, modern art is aimed at outsmarting traditional ways of doing things and past experiments with fresh ideas about the nature of things and/ or materials. In other words, modern art is more into social techniques and materials.

However, that notwithstanding, there still exist other substantial disparities between traditional forms of art and modern forms. They include the materials and techniques used. Classical art was characterized by the use of indigenous materials and creativity. These materials included charcoal, clay, pencils, plaster, and so on. On the other hand, modern art is not centered on using indigenous materials as it tries to contradict traditional art. Through the internet, there is a vast exchange of ideas and knowledge, resulting in the widespread use of creativity. This has had a direct impact on art, since obtaining exotic materials has also been made easy. Modern art has also been able to include the finest of details by using digital technology. Either, in traditional art, the key things involved in art were religion and culture. This means that the diversification was rather small and creativity affected in the same way. On the other hand, modern art is diversified. It has elements of different cultures, different religions, modern society, social activities, and so on. However, contemporary art has borrowed a lot of inspiration from traditional art.

In conclusion, it is clear from the article that even as much as the different forms of media differ, they borrow the same forms of art but display them differently. As observed, the forms of art in one media are the advancement of some other forms of different media. Th translations are dependent on what the different types of media can display. In addition to that, levels of creativity seem to vary in various types of media. This has consequently resulted in disparities in the forms of art utilized. However, they all have a relationship in that one form of art in one media can be easily traced from another form of art in other media. Also, while modern art is trying to visualize the cause of art, traditional art, on the other hand, just reflects the effect (Christopher, 3-16).
