Overview
What I participated in was serving as a lecturer guest in one of the Colleges in my state. During my visit, I lectured on the importance of Evidence-based practice to the nursing students. The benefit of this session was to enlighten the nursing students on changing healthcare system where nurses will use EPB in the treatment and care of patients.
Problem
Serving as a lecturer guest was aimed to offer education to nursing students on the use of evidence-based practice to future nursing practice. This activity is designed to solve the problem of a lack of knowledge among new registered nurses on the importance and application of EBP in the new workplace. Training nurses on the future of their practice prepare them to offer quality care and improve patient outcome based on evidence. Lack of EBP knowledge is a problem experienced by nurses while in new workplaces which can compromise the quality and safety of care given to patients. Specialist Nurse Practitioner could gain more knowledge on skills and competencies required in the evidence-based practice.
Solution
The state should ensure that EBP training program is incorporated in nursing education so that nursing students can have relevant knowledge EBP. With the knowledge, increased participation of nurses in EBP implementation can be guaranteed.
Opportunity
Serving as a lecturer guest prepared enhanced my leadership skills through training and assisting nursing students to understand the significance of EBP in the changing nursing practice. This activity will prepare my dream if being a future leader in nursing practice. Through my leadership, I will inspire registered nurses and specialist nurse practitioners to advance their education to doctorate level.

Overview
I participated in community planning for disaster management. The target market for the activity was the community people where the activity aimed to establish preparedness, and preventive measures for a disaster/ the activity was important as it boosted my knowledge on disaster preparedness and management plan which can be used in another community in case of a disaster.
Problem
Community planning is important as it helps to identify the needs of a community and address them appropriately. Disasters in communities can be human-made or natural. Either of them has negative impact on the community since they can lead to loss of life and destruction of community amenities. Disaster is a problem for both the community and healthcare systems as it creates a burden on social amenities. An SNP prepared nurse can achieve problem-solving skills by participating in community planning for disaster management.
Solution
State solution to this problem is fixing budgetary allocation for disaster management without consideration of the type of disaster. The allocation of resources assisted in the triage stage and management of the affected population after the disaster.
Opportunity
The scholarly activity creates an opportunity of working in different systems of healthcare which is required in the future of nursing practice. The competencies met included critical thinking knowledge as well as effective communication skills. Participating in this activity improved my problem-solving skills and future leadership skills in nursing.

I participate in policy and quality improvement committee for a healthcare organization. The target market for this activity was all healthcare practitioners to ensure coordinated care. The activity developed my problem-solving skills and enhanced my leadership skills required for the future of nursing practice.
Problem
The policy and quality improvement committee aimed to promote coordinated care between all healthcare professionals. Failure of health care workers to coordinate during care can lead to increased medical errors thus adverse patient health outcomes. Quality improvement in the healthcare sector has not been achieved as expected. Poorly coordinated care can lead to reduced quality and safety of care and which can affect patients’ well-being. SNP prepared nurse will learn management and leadership by participating in policy and quality improvement committee.
Solution
The state solution to this problem is the provision of resources to healthcare systems for training healthcare workforce on the relevance of coordinating and working collaboratively in the provision of care. Strengthening healthcare education program will also address the problem of workforce collaboration.
Opportunity
The opportunity the activity capture is that of decision making in healthcare policies and executive leadership. Communication is a competency that will be met in this activity and as a DNP nurse; I will increase my competitiveness in the nursing market due to creative thinking skills acquired.

I attended nursing conferences and seminars besides my learning program. The target market for the activity was the new nurses’ practitioners so that they could add to their knowledge of nursing practice. The activity was beneficial to my career as it broadened my networking capabilities and expanded my professional experiences.
Problem
Nursing conferences and seminars are aimed to improve the level of knowledge of a nursing practitioner besides education. Nursing conferences and seminars are common to many states where they update nurses on the latest advancement in the healthcare system. Lack of adequate knowledge for nurses is a problem not only to patients but also to healthcare organizations generally. With relevant and up-to-date knowledge, reduced medical errors and improved quality of care is assured. An SNP prepared nurse will have career advancement and skill development by attending nursing conferences.
Solution
A state should facilitate more seminars and conference to ensure nursing career advancement as well as the advancement of the profession. The conferences add on to the skills and knowledge of nurse practitioners. This problem will be solved by continual education and skill development offered at a nursing conference.
Opportunity
Attending conferences offered networking opportunities and added on to my career skills. Besides, communication skills were made effective by the seminars and conferences. The knowledge from conferences and seminars will advance my profession preparing me for a more competitive DNP nurse.
