school board policies
In my research I have come to learn a lot and acquire knowledge regarding the school board policies and the student handbook of the local public schools. This has made me aware that in most states the rules in regard to the student’s discipline have really changed which makes the staff members effective to learning what the new rules hold particularly on the matter of discipline. It is very true to argue that students have a right to education but in regard to the future, discipline carries the highest regard as the best channel to a better life. It is on this that the laws of every state enhances discipline at a very young age and shape the student and for this reason the common proverb applies that “spare the rod spoil the child.”
In my state Wisconsin, the board is the one which adopts the resolution which is made effective only on the progress of the school year. In the adoption it can authorize a determination to have a student expelled under a procedure. It is very relevant to saying that he school board poses a lot of power which are very reasonable to promoting the causes of education, establishing , provision and improvement of the various school district programs as well. All this activities are done for the beneficial impact of the students.
However suspension or the expulsion of the student is the last disciplinary action to be taken in Milwaukee Public School district and in the state of Wisconsin. The suspension denies that the student cannot access the school or any of the school programs and is facilitated upon the expulsion duration issued to the student. The school district administrator or rather the principal or a teacher who is designated by the school district administrator can suspend a student for not more than 5 days. If the expulsion notice has been sent under par for not more than 15 consecutive days due to some of the reasons such as; noncompliance of school board rules, conveying a false information involving destruction of a school property or anything else. With the expulsion been effective no school board should enroll a student from any other school district. Prior to enhancing an expulsion the board can conduct a hearing under the request of the student and if the student is a minor the parent or a guardian can be requested for the hearing. Written minutes are kept for the hearing and they are mailed to the student and if he or she is a minor they are mailed to the parent of guardian.
The due process for the two kinds of suspensions (long term and short term) are similarly to the same as they involve the board and the student with the offence, however the difference falls in place with the kind of punishment the student will receive. The Wisconsin is very strict to the rules and finds it researched of the student’s action and the reasons behind it, they also look upon any kind of an offence that the student might have done earlier.
Goss v. Lopez case is similar to the requirements of the suspension as in the public school there is an entitled notice to the student or the guardian for a minor student as well as a hearing which is called upon by the student. These procedures are very good to avoiding any kind of precaution or a mistaken misconduct hence making sure that the suspension is fair as per the student.
