Science fiction story or movie
Science fiction story or movie is a field of notional fiction that normally deals with futuristic and imaginative theories such as progressive science and technology, time travel, space exploration, extraterrestrial life, and parallel universes. Authors in this genre present literature of thoughts and usually explore the possible consequences of social, scientific, and technological innovations. Despite presenting ideas in different ways, Ray Bradbury and Dean Koontz are still considered science and fiction authors for several reasons.
Looking at their stories, their settings, their characters, their plots, and their conflicts all revolve around science and technology. They have utilized science and technology in facilitating the presentation of their ideas. For instance, The Martian Chronicles, written by Ray Bradbury, contains various technological instruments that assist characters in moving from one place to another. In this story, a crazy taxpayer tries to use a rocket to travel to planet mars. Also, the Demon Seeds story written by Dean revolves around a demented machine resembling an entity that dwells in a computer’s brain. The entity takes control of Susan’s home, which is fully automated. From these examples, the authors present imaginative ideas using technological tools.
Besides, the two writers also utilize allegory in presenting their thoughts. Most of the scenes presented in their plays are set in imaginary locations far away from where real humans live. Although they write about different worlds, they still bring relations linked to the real human world. Most of the ideas they present contain hidden meanings since they act as an explanation regarding the real world, political, and social systems.
Moreover, these authors are considered science fiction writers since their works contain inhuman characters. In the Demon Seed story, Prometheus is a non-human character that wants to live as normal human beings.
