Self Reflection
Adolescent bullying is common in schools and interferes with the academic performance of students. What I learned regarding the issue of adolescent bullying is that it affects students psychologically and physically which can lead to poor health of the students, adolescent bullying can be direct or indirect. Direct bullying is where an adolescent can be bullied physically in the form of violence or sexual harassment. Indirect bullying happens where adolescents are avoided by others which leads o poor relationships while n the classroom and outside the classroom. I also learned that most bullying happens outside the classroom and this makes victims of bullying stay in a classroom all day to avoid bullying. Increased weight can be a cause of bullying. Any form of bullying affects the performance of students academically as it interferes with physical and mental health.
I will apply what I learned by educating students to avoid any form of bullying and to protecting children from bullying as it interferes with their psychological and physical health. I will use this information to educate parents to create a good social environment for their children so that they can share any form of bullying they receive from their peers. This will make sure adolescent bulling is minimized in schools.
The major challenge I experienced when doing the project was communication barrier where some of the students interviewed feared to disclose their information due to fear that other students could be identified as bullers. This was overcome by convincing them that they information given was private and confidential and that no other student could learn their stories.
What I learned about conducting literature searches is that I should do it from peer-reviewed articles as they contain verified information that can be used for future research. I also learned that I should not use articles written many years before as they may contain obsolete information.
