Shakespeare’s Richard the Second and Samuel 8 to 32
Shakespeare’s Richard the Second and Samuel 8 to 32 give a succinct illustration of the image of the king. In the case of Shakespeare’s Richard the second (Act 1-3), the image of the kingship is viewed from the exploitative stance. This is supported by the fact that the king has the overall authority of those that he is supposed to rule. In point of fact, as outlined by Shakespeare, the image of the king is one of a person who is not ready to assist and aid his people as expected (Shakespeare 45). Instead, the king goes ahead to commence on stances that endeavor to enrich him. At the time when the king makes a return journey to England, the play shows that he sold the land, overrule the other leaders who had been mandated to be part of the leadership perspective to the extent that the people hated him.
On the other hand, in the outlined book of Samuel from chapters 8 to 32, it can be seen that the image of the king is equally that of a leader who is not ready to work hand in hand with the people. This is indicated by the stance that the leader only engages in what is supposed to make life bearable and much forthcoming for the people in question. Samuel’s viewpoint is that of a narrator who wants to inform the people more about the dangers of having a king who hs no regard for his people as well as the political stances (Samuel chapter 8).
The intention of the authors in pieces can be seen in the structure of the pieces of art of the kinship, the strategies adopted to complete them, and the choice of the characters. In the case of the image of the kingship, as displayed by William Shakespeare, the plot summary is a manifestation of a director’s wish to impact society through productions. This viewpoint can be seen in “For God’s sake, let us sit upon the ground, And tell sad stories of the death of kings; How some have been deposed; some slain in war, Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed; Some poisoned by their wives: some sleeping kill’d;” (Samuel Chapter 19). Still, this particular moment was used to praise the king in reference to the fact that holiness and zeal are the positive traits that identified him and distinguished him from the rest of the people present.
Suffice it to say; the above perspective demonstrates that the director wanted to highlight the positive and negative attributes that characterize the people through the use of the play. On the other hand, the intention of the narrator in the book of Samuel can be evidenced in the rather allegorical accounting of the life subsisted by the king. This can be witnessed at ‘’ Then Abner said to Joab, “Let’s have some of the young men get up and fight hand to hand in front of us. ”All right, let them do it,” Joab said (Samuel Chapter 14). The role of the character, as sought by the director, is to represent all mankind. The other characters are also allegorical since they personify abstract ideas like fellowship, knowledge, and goods. The director demonstrates the interplay between god and bad by the use of the characters. I feel that this production buy William Shakespeare is still relevant in the present-day due to the fact that it addresses inequalities that are still evident now.
The illustrations in Shakespeare’s Richard the second (Act 1-3) and the Judeo Christian of the kingship in the Bible from Samuel chapter 8-32, can be used to create a decent illumination to differentiate good from bad, and vice-versa. Suffice it to say, of all the plays I have read, Shakespeare’s Richard the second perfectly addressed the world problems that were evident at the time when the book of Samuel was written. As a matter of general cognition, the book was written to capture some of the salient aspects that denote the issues that were affecting the people at that particular point in time.
I am of the understanding that Shakespeare’s Richard, the second, is relevant to the Judeo Christian illustration of the king given the position that it addresses some of the issues affecting the political faction in most societies. For instance, Shakespeare’s piece notes that the king killed his brother for political purposes, which saw him crowned the king after the calculated demise. In the same way, many political dictators and despots across the globe have reportedly silenced their political enemies and competitors through random murders and organized deaths. Of course, such events are met by confrontations by the surviving members of the respective persons who have been killed. In fact, the issues manifest in the play can be used to correct some of the injustices in the political factions across the globe.
