Title: Lady Gaga’s Activism for The Rights of LGBTQ A Reflection of Her Belief in Personal Freedom.
Thesis: Lady Gaga is a believer of what her mother taught her that one is perfect, and they should not be afraid to show their authentic self. Her activism for the LGBTQ community is a pure reflection of her belief in one’s sense of self authenticity and freedom.

Bergman from the Independent shares how Lady Gaga proclaimed her love for the gay community and why she so believes in their right to be who they are in society. She shares how Lady Gaga inspires the community and understands how far they have come and what they have had to put up with in their journey to be given the right to exist among society. However, many in society are against them. Moreover, Lady Gaga also advocates that the LGBTQ community should always show bravery and never forget that they are the definition of true courage. On the other hand, she lets the group know that she celebrates them in every way and shares her two songs “You were born this way, and you’re a superstar,” to show support to the LGBTQ community. Also, she shares some of her sexuality by saying that she likes girls and pays homage to other LGBTQ activists.
The New York rally summary by Bergman shows several beliefs about Lady Gaga that drive her social activism for the LGBTQ community important to the research. First, she believes in the freedom to express themselves for who they are, even though there may be differences with the community. Also, she believes that no one should be denied the right to exercise such freedom as she believes that people were born the way they are. Then, people make the choices to be who they are, and differences should be faced with courage, not by war or conflict. Finally, no one should tolerate those who do not let others have the freedom to be who they are in society naturally.

Good Morning America channel is a news clip of Lady Gaga during the New York rally. She openly confesses that she loved that LGBTQ community and was ready to do anything out of that love, even if it meant taking a bullet for them any day of the week. She confidently shares what Bergman summarized in the Independent but of great importance in this clip showing confidence in the LGBTQ community and the open expression of love for them that is seen to resonate with the crowd in a big way.
The clip is important to this paper because it shows the great need for such sidelined groups in society. The way they show love for Lady Gaga and how they respond to her words as she shows that she understands their situation shows the truth in what Lady Gaga voices that people should be allowed to be themselves without being stifled of such a right by a society that carries different beliefs.

Hendricks shares different instances in which Lady Gaga shows her activism spirit and the confidence with which she does it. The second part of the list is central to this paper as she describes the event where Lady Gaga wore a meat dress, a bold sense of fashion that was aimed at protesting against the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy in the US military. Hendrik shares Lady Gaga’s opinion that she believed wearing a meat dress is everyone’s right, just like any other right. So no one had any right to disrespect or behave violently against Gay people. Lady Gaga thus says the policy is backward.
This article is important as it depicts the different activist activity and the beliefs that Gaga has, fueling her activism spirit in these domains. However, the LGBTQ one shows her continuous belief in that no one should be denied the right to express themselves as they deem fit, which Lady Gaga shows by going beyond fashion and wearing her meat dress.

Neary shares an interview with Lady Gaga and probes into Gaga’s past and the reasons she has the beliefs she carries with her everywhere about the LGBTQ community. Lady Gaga shares that the force behind the song “I was born this way” is her mother’s advice to her that everyone was born a superstar and that there is nothing wrong with anyone loving who they are in this world, as God made everyone as perfect as they are. Lady Gaga gives examples of DJs, Preachers, and other gay celebrities, but still live their lives in a great way without bothering the community, but enriching it instead.
This article is important to this paper because it shares the perfect source of Lady Gaga’s beliefs, her mother. A mother’s love is influential to the growth of her child, and that is what happened to Lady Gaga. As such, she is strong in her belief as it was passed to her by the one person she could not afford to disbelieve. Having a loving mother pass that knowledge down to her also makes Gaga believe that approaching such communities like the LGBTQ with love other than hate is the way to go, and she does show that in all her activism.
