Speech Improvement: Areas of Speech Improvement
At the beginning of the class, I incurred several challenges related to speech development that further affected the quality of my speech. In particular, my addresses did not contain appropriate messages for the intended audience. In return, the speech could not serve its purpose among the audience. Similarly, I incurred difficulties in developing speech format, which further affected the flow of speech. Also, the content of my speech contained vague sentences which further affected the quality of my address.
Regarding speech presentation, I did not adequately involve my audience. In relation, the presentation failed to meet the expectations of the audience, which further affected their focus on the presentation. To improve my speech development and presentation, I undertook various activities that would help solve the outlined challenges and enhance the quality of my speech.
Concerning the development of the speech message, I identify the purpose of my speech and the target audience. The move helps me the most appropriate tone and content for my speech. The step further helps me to discover the expectation of the audience upon which I craft my speech. Also, I developed studies on how to develop a good speech structure. Based on the review, I discovered that an address should contain three essential parts that include, introduction, body and the conclusion. Under the introduction section, I would explain the purpose of the speech while the body section would contain the message of the address. The conclusion would provide a summary of speech and the planned activities moving forward.
Similarly, I could use a classical structure to develop quality speech. In relation, I would first outline the problem under focus and then offer solutions to the issues described. To improve the content of the speech, I developed a strategy to include facts and statistics to support my arguments. Furthermore, I developed concrete words in my sentences to acquire the interest of the audience. Lastly, I create rhetorical questions and stories related to my topic of a presentation to attain the focus of my audience and capture their attention to the topic of discussion. The move has helped me to maintain contact with my audience in my speech presentations.
