Expected Barriers
There are a few barriers that may hinder my development spiritually. One of the most significant is distractions and desires. Our human desires play a pivotal role in determining whether we grow spiritually or not. The cares of life, love of money, relationships, and other human desires may be a barrier to my spiritual growth. This usurps the passion for serving God. Furthermore, human desires decreasing the time a person takes to meditate about God, and this weakens the level of growth (Johnson, 2020).
Another impediment to spiritual growth is negative thinking. The way a person thinks determines how they are going to act. This requires that a Christian is able to address the emotional, spiritual, and other negative thoughts. Furthermore, negative thoughts show the impossibility in things, and this makes a Christian devoid of faith. In life, many situations make a Christian lose faith in God, such as loss of loved ones or other life hardships. This makes a person see the challenges as being bigger than God. If the negative thoughts are not controlled, they may make a person desist from seeking God (Johnson, 2020).
Relationships are also a big barrier to my spiritual growth. In life, I expect that I may relate with some people who are negative, wicked, or devoid of fear of God. Their influence may humper my spiritual growth. A person is significantly shaped by the relationships they have (Johnson, 2020). Some friends like to gossip, judge others, and some with diverse priorities, and this is likely to limit my growth spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
Developing support resources
One of the most vital resources that I will use is the church. It is always good to congregate since it helps people to share their experiences and encourage one another. There are challenges that Christians face, and through the congregation, they are able to give testimonies that are effective in encouraging others to move on.
Another vital resource that I will use is the Bible. The Bible is a crucial resource in giving insight, condemning, correcting, and providing encouragement (Chance, 2019). Many people have faced similar challenges to what I go through as a Christian; therefore, reading the Bible will show me how they reacted and how I can respond similarly to those who were positive. The examples that have been given in the Bible are vital in guaranteeing that Christians are able to deal with most of the situations they face.
The other resource will be prayer. It is always good for Christians to pray. It offers an opportunity for a person to interact with the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, it helps to make the burdens and the issues that Christians carry lighter. Through prayer, God is able to minister, speak, and direct a person on what he should do in a particular situation.
I will also interact with Christians literature will help to offer more insight into different aspects of Christianity (Chance, 2019). The Christian literature is able to reflect what is happening to contemporary Christians, and they offer solutions that relate to the current issues.
