Researchers Erdal Kristi and Cassidy Caleigh are determined to research Bipolar Disorders. They have decided to build a study on examining and addressing stigma in bipolar disorder. It is very significant research in the community since it is a study that will enable medical professionals to encounter shame and disgrace of bipolar disorder patients.
Their main objective of the research is “is giving treatment information to bipolar patients reduce bipolar disorder stigma.” The study wants to investigate if there are challenges faced in studies relates to stigma treatment information to help patients with this disorder recover. Expectations were that the more patients were given treatment information, the more reduced social length, responsibility, and unpredictability. They were determined to know if there were considerable implications for stigma reductions and mental health education related to Bipolar Disorder.
They come up with the following null hypothesis based on assessing and addressing stigma in bipolar disorder which is; “Giving treatment information to bipolar patients does not reduce bipolar stigma.” The researcher’s alternative hypothesis is, “Giving treatment information to bipolar patients does reduce bipolar stigma.” The researchers side with the theory that giving treatment information would decrease Bipolar Disorder stigma. Based on the outcome of the research findings, there are positive impacts by providing treatment information on bipolar patients, such as social distance, personal responsibility, and beliefs towards bipolar disorder. The alternative hypothesis format is a one-tailed alternative hypothesis since the researchers have chosen to agree with the topic. The fact that they want to side with the argument prevents them from attaining a two-tailed alternative hypothesis. Assuming they did not write a hypothesis on the research, they decided to determine a research question. The research question would have been: “Does giving treatment information to bipolar patients reduce bipolar disorder stigma?”
