Summary Report.
Task 1 involved analyzing a dataset, categorizing food groups and assessing the data to conduct an analysis of what food group would be chosen land how competitive each food was in the market. Food groups were divided into five categories including chocolate-based foods, fast foods, healthier snacks, processed foods, baked foods. From the analysis, it was established that healthier snacks had contributed to the most minimum amount of calories totaling to 4,811.33 which represents about 9percent of the total number of calories from all the food categories. Processed foods provided 35percent which was primarily recorded the highest amount of calories from all the food groups. Consumption of Haagen-Dazs Cookies Dough Chip notably led to the absorption of the maximum amount of calories totaling to 1341 grams which were about 7.3percent of the total amount of calories obtained from processed foods. Moreover, healthier foods had the least mean of 77.60 while processed foods had the highest mean standing to 382.74 followed by fast foods, chocolate-based foods, baked foods and finally healthier foods. Healthier foods had a median of 62.5 which was the least of all the food categories. Fast foods had the highest average of 297.5. The standard deviation of healthier foods category was least with a 75.24771 followed by baked foods with an average of 221.93. Fast foods, on the other hand, had the highest standard deviation of 328.66. From the analysis, it is evident to see that statistics on healthier foods was the largest with a count of 62. Processed foods, on the other hand, had a count of 48 while fast foods had the least number of 32. The chocolate based foods were not competitive at all given that their consumption showed that it led to more calories than the healthier foods.
Task 2 entailed the determination of the average content of sugar of the items in the chocolate bar category. From the analysis, the mean of the sugar group was found to be 19.78, a median was 14.97, the standard error was 3.996, and the standard deviation was 22.96 while the total amount of grams obtained from the 33 chocolate based snacks was 652.73 grams. The maximum grams obtained under this category was 107.6grams, and this was of Haagen-Dazs Chocolate, Pralines & Caramel chocolate based food. Bournville dark chocolate contributed the most minimum grams of calories of 2.38 grams. Moreover, the correlation results showed that there was a strong relationship between the calories category and that of sugar. The relationship between calories and sugar was 0.992.
Task 3 involved the estimation of how sales influenced prices of products. A regression analysis was run with the sales being the independent variable while the
were the dependent variable. From the regression results, it was established that the equation connecting the sales level at the cost level was Sales = 123.93-20.63Price. From this equation, it was clear that sales had an inverse relationship with the price level. Thus, an
in the price led to a decrease in the sale level and vice versa. The coefficient of determination was 0.87 implying that sales had a strong relationship with the price level. By adjusted r2, sales had a strong correlation with the price level since the data could explain 86.14percent of the data. While establishing the percentage of total variation, it so happened that the explained variation due to regression was 81.17percent while the unexplained variation was 18.83percent. The scatter plot showed that most of the points were covered by the regression line, and thus the data could be relied on from the results it posted.
